Franz Ronasonsonsonsonsonsonsonson

Inventor of Nerrid Numerical Nomenclature for Library Sciences

Like many of his fellow scholars and bibliophiles, Franz beamed with pride at the size of the Nerrid National Library. A Nerrid might find research on any topic in such a collection. If only, of course, they could the scroll, tome, tablet or pamphlet in the seemingly haphazard collection of caverns.
it was to this problem that Franz applied his aptitude of mathematics. Using a simple formula - one that covered only 37 pages in a small leather bound book he entitled the "Codex" - that assigned a unique, 37 digit number to any volume based upon its author, title, topic, publication date, language, and 32 other factors. The government loved the system and immediately set about the task of reorganizing the entire collection.
An entire new branch of study - library science - was born. The first job of this new brand of academics was ostensibly to assign a number to every manuscript in the library. They did, however, run into a number of challenges, not the least of which being their understanding of Franz's system. In true Nerrid fashion, the librarians then fell to debating the choices that Franz made, as catalogued in the remaining 143 pages of book.

While this debate rages on today, work did eventually begin on the system and thousands of manuscripts have been catalogued. Thousands more, which continue to come in all the time, lie waiting in piles for their assessment. Unfortunately, as librarians reassess his work and adjust the system, manuscripts that have been catalogued must be sought out and re-catalogued. Given the debate caused by his ideas, the constant reorganization of books, and the nearness to the hearts of most Nerrid, Franz has become one of the most beloved Nerrid in history.
