Feathered River
Running out of the Frungof Mountains from its source in Goose Lake, the Feathered River gets its name from the proliferation of goose feathers that can found along its wending route to the Darsiac Ocean. The feathers, which appear in midsummer as the geese upstream molt, clot in great clumps along the river, forming insubstantial floating islands. Beneath the surface the river has a much more familiar ecosystem with trout, bass, otters and turtles all making their homes in the lazy flow. Deer, bear, and other larger woodland creatures crowd its shores as the trees of the Volarka Forest thicken until it reaches the picturesque Nerrid village of Lartcha when small fishing skiffs and the occasional Eldorian trading vessel are moored.
