The Land of the Silver Star
A growing nation in the Greenbelt and Tuskwater regions of the Stolen Lands, The Land of the Silver Star is committed to tolerance of different species and cultures, trade, education, the arts, and balancing expansion with preservation of the natural world. They are primarily a mercantile nation and have been undergoing a prolonged economic boom, aided by a network of roads and rivers connecting their settlements.
Geography
The Land of the Silver Star is located to the east of Drelev, to the west of Varnhold, and to the south of Rostland. The southern border is in the Sellen Hills.Demographics
The Land of the Silver Star is more diverse than average, frequently assisting indigenous groups and integrating them into society. They have done this with a number of Kobold tribes (the Sootscales and Redclovers) as well as Lizardfolk (the Longtail and several other tribes). They peacefully coexist with a Boggard, a Hill Giant, a Dryad, several Satyr and assorted other Fey. Recent attempts to welcome Goblins and Werecreatures into the nation have proven unpopular.Government
The Land of the Silver Star is an oligarchy consisting of 8 members:- Ruler: Kiin
- Counselor: Kagar
- General: Kassil Aldori
- Emissary: Jubilost Narthropple
- Magister: Ezvanki Keeg
- Treasurer: Maegar Varn
- Viceroy: Ragnar Garess
- Warden: Kesten Garess

Diplomacy
The Land of the Silver Star has historically been publicly neutral, but from its inception it has been wary of the intentions of House Surtova and its allies, and supportive of House Aldori and its allies (notably including Varnhold). Following the failed peace negotitions at Six Bears Tribe, the Silver Star publicly announced its support of an independent Rostland.Military
The Silver Star has intentionally focused on defenses to avoid premature provocation, given the tense political situation when the nation was founded. After the blockade of New Stetven they began to build up a modest military, officially to defend against Fey incursions and hostile actions from Nyrissa. They settled the ruins of Fort Serenko and created a forward military base to be closer to Restov and also control the river leading southwest into Ornisk. The Silver Star armed forces consists of three armies totaling around 450 soldiers. Each has a division of cavalry, infantry and skirmishers. The army is a diverse mixture of indigenous people and immigrants from the north. Recently, they had an overwhelming success at the Battle of Vermetelheid.Promises

Concerns
As a young nation in a cursed land bordering a region inching towards civil war, the Silver Star has many developing concerns. Its longest-running concern is the impending Brevoy Civil War. The nation has prospered during its early peaceful years, and many citizens moved down from Rostland or Issia to avoid the war. Potentially related, Pitax has apparently taken a very anti-Silver Star stance, pressuring allies to cut off trade with them and even sending an operative to spread fear and dissent. Some of the things they know are extremely well-kept secrets, suggesting that their espionage is extremely good. It's possible that Shandra Mervey was their informant. Pitax' motivations are unknown, but may be related to their suspected attack on House Aldori. Armag the Twice-Born considers the Silver Star to be an enemy and has been pursuing powerful artifacts from the original Armag, presumably in preparation for war. There are also broader, less understood occult concerns which pose existential threats to the Silver Star. Nyrissa is determined to bring ruin to the kingdom, and among other things she had a portal opened as a beachhead for troops, and created an Everblooming flower in the Cradle of Lamashtu which resulted in hundreds of deaths to corrupted monster attacks. Candlemere Island seems to be the home of a temple of Yog-Sothoth and the source of Will-o'-wisps. Nyrissa also caused a seemingly permanent curse on the land which can sometimes empower strongly-held beliefs to manifest into tangible curses, such as the massacle in the Red Mist Village. A Unicorn was found killed west of Vermetelheid, seemingly out of spite, by a very powerful necromancer or Fey, potentially even Nyrissa. Queen Kiin is also slowly becoming more like a white dragon, mentally and physically. When this came to light it caused a bit of public outcry. There is concern that the Technic League may retaliate for the capture of Lady Almaona, although this was strictly punishment for attempted enslaving.Local Legends
- The queen had a fling with Cherry.
- Lake monsters lurk in Lake Silverstep, but the eels that also live there make damn fine eating.
- A silver dragon lives in the Tors of Levenies, but no one has seen her for some time. Perhaps she moved on?
- The Stolen Lands are cursed and any attempts to settle them will result in failure.
- Werewolves live around Drakeel. It is also said that a werewolf resides in Ornisk under the supervision of the town guard.
- Avoid the vibrant orange-haired gnome, as accidents and injuries soon follow.
- People with bloodshot eyes and ragged attire shamble through the streets of Ornisk at night.
