House Surtova
A ruthless house whose strength and resourcefulness filled the power vacuum in Brevoy when House Rogarvia mysteriously disappeared. Shady as hell, general advice is to never trust a Surtova.
Nikos Surtova, the original ruler of the house, offered his daughter Myrna to Choral the Conqueror. After the disappearance of Rogarvia, they claimed the right to rule.
House Surtova is known for its mages.
House Surtova has been preparing for an impending Brevoy Civil War, mobilizing an army in New Stetven and displacing its inhabitants to the south to serve as a buffer against attack. The land under the city itself has been magically elevated to fortify it, and they have gated the East Sellen River to prevent travel. It seems likely they're waiting for a declaration of war so they'll appear victims, not aggressors.
They have asked (via their spy Shandra Mervey) for The Land of the Silver Star to remain neutral in the civil war. They allege that the war will be long, bloody, and harmful to the economy and people of nations who participate in it.
