Wandering Moon
Respected, feared and often avoided, the Wandering Moon is an avatar of Death. As she moves across the sky, she reflects the light from Salsabil, illuminating the lines of the constellation she circles. The months of the year follow her path: Tinkermoon, Tailormoon, Soldiermoon, Sailormoon, Richmoon, Poormoon, Beggarmoon, Thiefmoon.
When she crosses in front of the star, Salsabil, the city of Palimpsest is shrouded in a "Cone of Shadow". These Eclipsedays are leap days outside the normal calendar, and they are associated, whether through superstition or observation, with death.
Qumin: “As it happens, the Moon gets a mention in a few versions of the tale of the Three Immortals. In their quest to reach Salsabil, is seems the Three Immortals had to navigate, or bypass the Moon, which of course occupies a space between the mortals and Salsabil. Accounts differ into how much detail they go but the general indication seems to be that the Moon does not wish to permit any mortal structure to make it past her level and the Three Immortals are able to bypass her efforts to stop them with trickery, largely revolving around the fact that they have something she wants. Namely their own souls, sealed within them by their status as immortals, out of reach of the Moon herself.”
