"Some say there’s a place called Alnar, Salsabil’s dark secret: a rotten black star on the opposite sky somewhere far under our feet, and beyond that, the Well, which the souls too blackened to be scrubbed clean get dragged down into by the weight of their sin, never to escape. I’m not saying it’s true. I’m not a preacher. But you’ve got to ask yourself why this city full of sinners never stops sinking downwards." Cobbler Bakerstreet, in an out-of-game interview.
Alnar is a hypothesized fringe-theory in the religion of the
Eight. Most followers of the religion are unlikely to have even heard of Alnar - and although some of the followers of the
Beggar Man might have encoutered the single reference to it in the drinking song
"Beggar Fill Up The Bowl", few will have researched the meaning behind the words.
