Memebers of the Court
The Court of Countillan holds five major positions and twenty (now twenty-one due to Vistovia's appearance) minor positions. The members of the court are each chosen by their respective city-states by their determining processes. Their job is to represent and advocate for the people of their designated city-state. Often these members are religious leaders, political leaders, those adjacent to political leaders, or well-respected heroes.
The five major positions, referred to as Court Leaders, are also appointed with the responsibility of advocating for their city-state and their region as well. The city-state that receives a representative of Court Leader status is decided by population.
As of 6728, the following are the current Court Leaders and what regions/city-states they represent.
Mijuan the Saint from Saragos representing Straval (he/they)
Mijuan the Saint is a tall slender figure with long silvery hair and dark skin. He is an older human in his mid-60s. He wears fine silks in shades of chartreuse and holds a large ceremonial wreath around his head that glows with bronze light. This makes his already thin features look gaunt and intimidating. He is often clean-shaven and underneath the wreath he has kind eyes and a brilliantly bright smile, that magically, or not, brings comfort to any he interacts with.
Although he can be intimidating, he is extremely kind and patient. He is incredibly wise and insightful. He is well-versed in the arcane and the practices of divinity. He and his predecessor are deeply devout to the Towering Commander. He understands that there is often a time and place for an intimidating presence and often does not wear the wreath when not in formal situations. He is genuine and caring, but takes in the problems of the world one at a time, only doing what is in his power. Which in his case is a lot. General Matthew Grevtovia from Trostenwald representing Trequero (he/him)
General Matthew Grevtovia is a tall half-orc man with a permanently stern expression. He is never seen outside of his military uniform unless he is prepared for battle and adorned in a shining suit of black armor. He has a massive scar across his face and is missing his right arm seemingly both caused by the same strike.
He is a master of tactics and battle strategy. He is the one most often looked towards when the Court needs to take military action. He is the most persistent member of the Court against empirical practices but under the table, when his pockets are full he is happy to leave certain groups unnoticed. Despite his personal dealings, he has been integral in the Court's success in maintaining a presence in Atlantis. This however has recently been going poorly for the Court. At the most recent meeting, the General lost his temper and stormed out after a long debate with Pearlheart Caleb Bostner. His actions could easily be the tipping point for another revolution of Atlantis. Arch-Elder-Druid Ilair of the Wildfire from Arall representing Acins (they/he)
Arch-Elder-Druid Ilair of the Wildfire is an ancient greying bugbear who wears earthy orange tones and has wildly outgrown fur, purposely exaggerating his carnal features. They are quiet and reserved. They often carry a charred staff but use it for support more often than magic. Their posture is slumped and it is obvious to many of the court members that they are not fit for their role.
They are the newest member of the Court Leaders after the Hellfire and subsequent death of Bauc Greygut. They have been thrown into this position, just as they did on the council of elders in Arall. They don't speak up amongst the court for they have extremely debilitating social anxiety when speaking to anyone but their wildfire companion. They are also currently horrifically overwhelmed and humiliated as they have left the Apiary District of Arall for the first time in centuries and they see all of the obvious problems in the world and their city-state. Damian Arvenson from Gurrel representing Brusel (he/him)
Damian Arvenson is a gnomish man with short dark hair, a dark complexion, and a perfectly trimmed goatee. He wears fine silks and is adorned in golden jewelry. His face is very pinched with a large toothy smile.
Being Fredrick Arvenson's nephew gives Damian an impressive level of influence, however, everyone on the council knows him as a snake. He has never turned down a bribe for the right price or failed to steal a copper piece from the poor when given the chance. Despite his untrustworthy reputation, he is confident in keeping his seat. This is because everyone who has ever accepted a "favor" from his family is only a sending spell away from being thrown into Fort Montauk or any of the many prisons of Gurrel. Fortunately for Damian, that list includes more than a few council members. Blessed Twin Divia Monet from Notris representing Darleth (she/her)
Divia Monet is an older tiefling woman with dark green skin and horns that twist like a goat's. She wears long tan and green robes and adorns her outfits and skin with small sprouts and patches of moss. She has a kind demeanor and friendly eyes.
She is outwardly very kind and uses that to her advantage. She focuses the majority of her political power on the protection, preservation, and worship of the nature of Countillan and the various deities that are often worshipped alongside Mother Nature. She has had a direct hand in the making of the religious restrictions of Darleth and wishes to extend these beliefs to others on the council outside of Darleth. She has made a close ally with Prince Donald Giddleford from Domtaris and is attempting to extend these ideas to the rest of Straval. She has also used the Hellfire as a way to convince others that the worship of "wrong" gods will only lead to negative outcomes. Members of the minor court and their respective city-states
