Othealia (oh-theel-ee-UH)

Othealia is the god of the elements, life, freedom, and nature. She is also known as Mother Earth. she/her   Appearance/Symbolism
Othealia often appears drastically different based on the context of discussion or worship. Her hair is always long and braided made of vines, branches, snakes, or whatever best fits the context. She often chooses to wear a massive ostentatious cape created from flowers, tree bark, leaves, or whatever best fits the context. At times this cape will have a massive train or high collar. Most often amongst the Eighteen she appears as a tall heavy-set woman with dark skin and the braids of brambles weave themselves into the embrace of leaves and flowers adorning her cape. She also holds a crown of thorns, antlers, and hundreds of minuscule birds, bugs, and other creatures that dwell in the branches.   Pictographic Details
The pictographical details of her symbol in Celestial script represent a planet, spores, the land, and plant life.   Status and Relationships
She was a founding god alongside Clothesis and Grimora. She, alongside her two elders, is the closest the Eighteen have to a leader. She is very outspoken and never fails to make her presence known. She views the elemental gods as her children but also understands that they are grown and does not give out special favors due to her fondness. These include Aethre, Alazo, Amun, and Cassandra. She has a rather rough relationship with her fellow elder gods. In the beginning, she was never a fan of Grimora always viewing her as trying to end her "fun". She now understands that death is just as important as birth, but grudges are still held, especially by Othealia. They are still very competitive and this was only exacerbated by the Separation. In the beginning, she and Clothesis were very close and had a long-lasting and fulfilling marriage. This was until the Era of Devotion, when they became much more busy leading to the events of the Separation. For many millennia Othealia hated Clothesis and his lack of passion. She now is content with their relationship and aside from the stray comment they get along well.   Personality
Othealia is a very emotion-oriented god, especially for her high status. Many view this as a bad thing thinking that she is quick to judgment and action, but this is not the case. She is extremely empathetic and when jumping to judgment it is because she understands the emotional weight of a situation and follows her intuition. She is able to do so successfully because she is an elder god and has senses that are extremely fine-tuned. That being said, she can seem rash and at times her understanding that the world will recover from anything thrown at it is not shared by the rest of the Eighteen. This leads to her actions and emotions seeming destructive, the prime example being the Separation.   History
Being one of the original gods, Othealia has an extensive history. Beginning in the creation myth, she created life and the animals, plants, and carnalfolk of Othealia. She tamed the elemental planes and created the first gods to manage them. She is a pioneer and will always be known for taking the first step.   She is also known for the separation. In this event, her and Clothesis's marriage came to an end. As mortal life was flourishing and they began to worship the gods in excess, there was an imbalance among the three elder gods. As Othealia's worshipers grew rapidly she had to create many lesser gods to handle the influx. This left her with very little time or energy. Clothesis on the other hand had nowhere near the followers that many of the other Eighteen had. This led him to focus on his interest in the arcane weave and magics. He began to spend more and more time with Cato. Although they had yet to cross any boundaries, when Othealia looked towards her husband she could tell his heart pulled him elsewhere. She rushed to Clothesis and demanded to know what he had been up to. Unaware of the extent of his feelings he assured Othealia and calmed her worries. Othealia was not convinced at had Poctracies kept an eye on the god of time. In Clothesis's defense, he did not expect the embrace from Cato but did not back away either. Othealia lost it. She demanded the Eighteen hold a council meeting and expose Father Time. She demanded the Eighteen to deem him a lesser god and pay for his crimes. This split the Eighteen and caused them all to pick favorites. Many of the more emotional gods chose to side with Mother Nature and the more logical with Father Time.   Seeing so many of the gods, some of which from her creation, side against her, enraged her even further. She demanded that Clothesis step down and until he did she would no longer allow new life on Othealia. For over 2000 years this went on causing Lady Death to slow down the process of death and the afterlife left in disarray. After Clothesis bargained and pleaded with Othealia, even offering to give up his spot as an elder god, it became evident that she simply wanted to be angry and hurt him. It wasn't until the only gods standing at her side were Alazo and Koa that she came to reason and dropped the ban on life.   She also played a larger role in the War of Laughter. She alongside Koa was able to organize Medea's convoluted plans and end the war much earlier than Medea would have alone.   Gods Under Her Direct Creation
