Saragos

Saragos is one of the largest cities in Countillan. It's a bustling trade hub full of vibrant colors and life. The city was founded by an ancient long-dead hero, Straval the Defender. The city has many different races, including many monstrous ones.   Those in Straval would consider it the unofficial capital of Countillan, although Trostenwald is the official capital and holds that role well. Saragis is one of the first major cities visited by incoming travelers, merchants, and refugees from other continents.    The city design appears as a six-pointed star with seven massive oases at the points and in the center of the city. The star shape is outlined by a massive sandstone wall that reaches over 30 feet tall in some areas. Each oasis of the city is a designated district. These include the Sandstone District, Bronze Battalion District, Illuminations District, Arcanium District, Quicks District, Sabal District, and in the center, the Emerald District. The Emerald District is where the leader of Saragos resides. In this district there is a thousand-foot tower that twists upwards and is plated in green glass, giving the illusion of an emerald spiral. Additionally, while not considered part of the city's main design, about a 4-hour walk south is a massive port where thousands of ships dock. This is called the Dune's Embrace, as the port is surrounded by hundred-foot-tall dunes on all sides. The beginning of the Llaudrian Road starts here and carves its way through one of these dunes in a massive tunnel filled with wealth, crime, and ambition.   Saragos is ruled by a monarchal society, that requires trials to become a leader to ensure the state's government is in just and responsible hands. The last ruler of Saragos, Xhojan the Holy, was a devout worshiper of the Towering Commander. Due to his worship, the Towering Commander became the patron god of Saragos. The current ruler of Saragos is Xhojan's grandson Mijuan the Saint, known for his patience and generosity.    As a result of the Towering Commander's presence in the city, the military force wears all bronze armor with their faces concealed by thin purple cloth, representing the lack of personal bias in justice. The higher-ranking officials are given more ornate armor and red cloaks to go along with them, honoring the god of justice. The military presence in Saragos isn't oppressive but prevalent enough that they are easily noticed, especially with their unique uniforms. They tend to be more focused along the walls of Saragos, the Llaudrian road, and the Dune's Embrace.   Its architecture appears as a classic Arabian style with some Indian influence. Dyes, spices, and many rare goods are found sold in Saragos. There are many palms and tropical species that find a home here.   Notable People of Saragos   Last Edited By: Onyx
