Domtaris
Domtaris has a long and bloody history. Although the Tarralich is now long gone his scars on the contenent still remain. All that is left of his empire now resides in the sleepy desert city of Domtaris. Although under drastically different leadership and a friend and supporter of the Court of Countillan, the city keeps the name of the fallen empire to remeber those who had suffered under Tarrog's centries-long reign and as a reference to the half-buried ribcage that the city sits in.
The city's population is mostly made up of halflings and elves. It has a democratic structure and elects a new governer evey so often. The city is not massive having only a population of roughly 150,000.
Divine magic is celebrated throughout the city, but known to be separated from the government. Acrane magic however has progressed very little as the people of Domtaris have a lot of supersticion and caution around the form of magic. Many people in the town are terrified of anything to do with undead or necromancy even melienia after the tarralich's rule. The rituals for how they dispose of their dead are very involved and percise. While they do vary they often include lead trunks buried 15ft underground which hold the ashes of the lost ones. Even those who aren't religous have priests bless and honor the grave and trunk before burials. Often these priests are worshipers of the Messenger of Silence.
The architecure in the city makes use of bone and sandstone that is plentiful in the area. The buildings and homes can be described as a cross between halfling holes, Pueblo houses, and colorful tarps. While the air can at times be dry this section of the desert gets more rain than most allowing for plentiful roof-top guardens. The city is shaped to face upwards at the top of a large sanddune in which the Domtarian library sits with massive lush gardens surrounding it.
The Domtarian library is extensive but much of it is closed off, only those of the highest governmental status have access. This is to prevent the spread of necromantic knowlege as many of the tomes and scrolls were knowlege that Tarrog posessed.
