Old Mill
The Old Mill lies about half-a-mile above the town on the stream and to the east of The Street, Count's Yardham on the eponymous Old Mill Lane, Count's Yardham.
Purpose / Function
This is a grist-mill. It is one of the two mills in Count's Yardham used for the grinding of grains for flour.
Architecture
The Mill consists of three floors - The Top Floor is mostly grain storage; the middle floor is the stone floor and the lowest floor is the sifting and bagging floor.
The Miller and his household lives in a separate building on the property and there is also a wagon-store and byre.
History
The original @Old was a timber structure, but this was rebuilt in stone to reduce the ongoing maintenance costs. The current building doesn't rot anywhere near as badly as the previous build.
