Town Gate, Manor House, Count's Yardham
The Town Gate sits almost opposite Back Lane and is an impressive structure - 50' deep, 100' wide and 50'tall. It is manufactured from fine stone carved by local Dwarves and assembled by them. It is, by far, the grandest part of the Manor House defences.
Purpose / Function
This gate has the multiple purpose of acting as the defence of the entrance to the Manor House, acting as a grand statement of the position of the Count of Herrir, and housing the Count's Judicial Sessions.
Alterations
A tiled roof structure has been added to lessen the ingress of water.
Architecture
The gate is flanked by two towers (one each side) and above is a space for crossbowmen. The first floor houses the defensive gear, the second floor houses the Courtroom and the third floor is a store for a defensive engine that can be assembled in time of need.
The gateway is obstructed by a sturdy double-door, a Portcullis and a draw-bridge over a pit.
The face of the gate has been carved with images of lost Numenor. The arms of teh Count of Herrir and the Kingdom of Gondor appear, side by side, over the centre of the arch
