"Official" progress report An overview of my targets for this event:-
1: Write at least 50,000 "qualifying" words. - Met with 54,816 words
2: Use all the templates (though I'm struggling to see how I can use the plot one at the moment). - Missed with 19/24
3: To write at least 100 articles. - Missed with 82
4: To explore and develop three main themes

Overall - I'd call it a moderate success. It definitely left me with a much better idea of the town of Morton, but at the expense of my other aims and making the world horribly unbalanced.
On preparation... If I'd only been looking to do 10,000 to 20,000 words this would not have been so much of a problem (and would have reduced the rush) but I'd not stubbed much out for expansion, and even where I had, the limit of 50 words didn't give much to work with if I wanted to mention a couple of ideas and flag a few things that it linked to. I thought about using the notebook or similar but that felt too much like cheating. I'll probably want to revisit that approach if 2020 sees something similar.

4: To explore and develop three main themes
i) The town of Morton, capitol of the Moran Duchy. Met, it's almost getting there as a place to use.
ii) The history and culture of the Taru, the first human culture to establish in Tarusia. - Not as much as I'd hoped
iii) The original inhabitants of Tarusia; their history, cultures and interactions with humans. - Not as much as I'd hoped
5: To provide constructive feedback on 30 articles from co-competitors - I had this in Summercamp and failed miserably. So it's back to see if I can do better. Missed by a mile (see below)

All the detail, if I keep it up to date
Thoughts and Learnings as at 01-Jan-2020
The first thing to say is that I suffered from not having prepared enough (more on this below). That reduced my enjoyment and meant that I did very little for a block of a week to 10 days in the middle of the month. I needed to step back and do some prep before I could get going again. I also fell victim to wordcountitis - its great to get some of the ideas down but (1) will I get round to rounding them out, linking them up and so on once the "no fiddling" period is over? and (2) it left me focused in on what I was doing and not enjoying what other people were up to.Overall - I'd call it a moderate success. It definitely left me with a much better idea of the town of Morton, but at the expense of my other aims and making the world horribly unbalanced.
