The FNV Porter Hijacking and Attacks were a series of nearly simultaneous terrorist attacks that directly struck the heart of the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets, on its de-facto capital world of Envis. Claiming allegiance to both Greater Jenmoreneat and the Union of Praebia, terrorist groups would attack numerous military installations and Federal buildings, including the Envien Congressional Assembly. Despite this attack on the Federation's capitol, it would be the hijacking of the 10th Generation Elaine J. Kyra class battleship FNV Porter that would cause the most destruction and death. The hijacking of Porter was especially symbolic for the terrorists, as the vessel had been involved in the Praebian Nuclear Crisis, as part of the 15th System Fleet, and served as a prisoner transport ship for President Nicholas O'Brian by the Federation Federal Police. The combined death toll following the attacks was catastrophic and beyond what the Federation had seen for thousands of years. Deputy President of the Federation Connor Uniacke was among the dead, as were Ministers Mahlik Foster, Ashley Hayes, Silas Scott, and Cyril Roatta.   Despite thorough investigations by the Federation's Federal Police and Intelligence organisations, there is little in the way of established fact in regard to the formation of the terrorist group that would organise and carry out the attacks. Elias Spier and Talia Griffen are among the only known terrorist participants - and are widely regarded as the group's leaders, leading a group consisting of some 17,000 members. Numerous theories, many outlandish, have dominated the media sphere, and conspiracies run rampart, accusing any, from the 4th Imperial Republic of Jerace, to the Republic of Osheni, to the Federation itself, of supporting and financing such an attack. The Federation Federal Government lays blame solely at the hands of Greater Jenmoreneat and the Union of Praebia, and performed a number of missile strikes against the former as direct retaliation, as the Federation-Jenmoreneat War escalates.   Widespread criticism would fall on the Federation Armed Forces in the immediate aftermath of the attacks, with the failure of the Envien Planetary Shield and Federation Interstellar Navy to prevent FNV Porter's attack and a lacking response by the Federation Federal Army to the attack on the Congressional Assembly. Early reactions by senior military leadership attempted to pass blame onto the Federation's intelligence agencies, which had been completed blinsided by the attacks. In addition, they argued that the ground based defense emplacements of the Planetary Shield were effiective in combating the missile armaments of the FNV Porter. A lack of any naval warships responding was attributed to a desire to avoid a starship crashing onto the surface of Envien.   Despite these arguments, vast swaths of military leadership would be replaced after the attacks, with MCP Andrea Noruma taking on the role of Minister of the Armed Forces, and John Rendon being chosen as the new Naval Chief of Staff. Director of Federation Federal Intelligence Alex Fletcher would resign just days after the attack, with Mike Lewis - his direct deputy, taking on the role in his place. The attacks are just one more of the many crises that President of the Federation Liam Black and his Coalition Government has been forced to deal with. A deep divide has since settled across the Federation following the attacks, with many groups questioning Black's ability to defend the nation, while others have galvanised around his government.

Background

The FNV Porter Hijacking and Attacks occurred just a year following the Praebian Nuclear Crisis, and a year into the Jenmoreneat Rebellion. Both the Union of Praebia and Greater Jenmoreneat stood in direct opposition to the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets, and in the case of the later, was in direct open conflict with the nation. A recent drastic spike in military recruitment has been directly linked to the attacks, and all military branches and intelligence agencies have been granted a higher budget.
While terrorism was unavoidable throughout the Federation's history, the combined efforts of the Federation Federal Intelligence Service and Federal Police had been widely efficetive in combating them before they could even occur.
