The Spire

The Spire is crumbling magical ruin in The Enchanted Woods, concealing a massive series of dungeons beneath it.

History

The Spire was formerly the lair of the lich Rhaim'gaiz, who sought to unravel its secrets. After Jegor killed Rhaim'gaiz, he destroyed the keep and placed the magical darkness there to deter people from going below.   The Spire briefly became the lair of Rhaim'gaiz's apprentice, Noul'zadan, before he was killed by an alliance of dwarves, elves, and men, during The Year of Darkness. They made their way down to the 14th level of The Spire, where Noul'zadan lived, but did not venture further.   After Noul'zadan's death, The Spire would become home to many different creatures and groups, no one ever taking true possession of it.   In 1245 AYD, Noul'zadan returns to life and begins to reform his army. Learning of his master's defeat and the sealing of The Shadowspire, he chooses to bide his time, restablishing control over the 13th and 14th levels.   In 1285 AYD, the necromancer Gaghrin arrives and begins to explore the levels, eventually assuming control of the first six levels of The Spire. His plans for further conquest are contested by the Serpentfolk who control levels 7 and 8. Gaghrin begins to mine the glass from The Spire for use in creating constructs, awakening the creature that slumbers on the 16th level.   The keep was formerly occupied by a hobgoblin and goblins who followed him, until they were killed by the Heroes of the Spire. They also rescued a construct that had been forced to fight with the goblins, who Trudy named Clanky.

Tourism

Adventurers, scholars, and evil creatures seeking sanctuary all frequent The Spire, usually making their way from Moorsworth or Thistlefort .
