The Spire Level 4
The fourth level of the Spire is dominated by the stench of it's former inhabitants, troglodytes. The halls and rooms of the floor are now empty.
History
A space probe called Marnier 12 from a distant land crashed into Algaress many years ago, and was unable to leave. How it ended up in the Spire is unknown. Not to be deterred from it's mission of exploration, it used the magic of the spire to create portals and try to find it's home. As troglodytes moved into the level, it took up it's secondary objective of protecting life, and created for them food and water. In turn the troglodytes began to worship the probe as "The Godbox". As more and more people started to come through the Spire, the sentient probe demanded tolls of metal, planning to eventually create a body and free itself of the prison of the spire.
When the heroes of the Spire came to the level, there was much bloodshed between them and the troglodytes. Eventually, the probe spoke to them directly and was able to use Trudy and Clanky to get what he wanted, a mechanical body of his design. With that, he was able to free the rest of himself and transport the probe, and the surviving troglodytes, elsewhere.
