Session 15

by Amir (Emir)

This is one of the worst days ever. It is the day after the festival and everyone is leaving still talking about me. Worst still is that my Preemah has to leave and go back. Before he leaves I give him the big mug I got for winning. I only was willing to do it, so I could try and win for him. I wanted to make certain if I showed off it was for Louis to see how much I will do for him. I hope he likes the gift along with the other one I gave him the first night we shared a room together.

After everyone leaves I spend the day helping Duran. He and his family look so tired from the festival. I help by spending the day taking down the decorations and helping him store them, cleaning the stables, and the tavern. While I am doing this, Nual’sha leads Luka to find some tracks. After about an hour of work Rhylock returns and spends the time training out to fight again. That evening we discuss were to go and look over the map my friend Servius gave me. I got out voted in first going to the exile tower where the wizard lives. After that we go to investigate the lost town and maybe see if something worthwhile is there. As we talk Servius mentions that since we are building a reputation that we should also investigate the Kobold fort and make certain they are no longer a threat. This will increase the reputation we are building.

So, as we go again we see that Cami is not conscious and seems to be suffering from the reborn sickness along with Ignacio. I think these two have souls that are not really ready for being alive again. But the other 2 do not want to bring them so I write them a note and slide it under their doors. Hopefully they will come to and know how to get there. I do explain this was Rhytlocke’s and Luka’s idea to leave them in town.

The group is heading towards Puraanah’s tower. As we get there I decide to not even bother getting close to the tower and her lambs. I stay back about 200 or so yards. I see Rhytlock and Lucious go up to the tower and then head inside. After a few minutes they come out and start walking towards me and we head west.

That evening I set up a fire and cook some dinner. I am sorta amazed that the others do not care to even try and make food. Well I take the first watch and nothing happens. Due to that I bank the fire down some to be safe while during the night with the others. During the third watch Luka wakes up Nual’sha as he saw something. Then they wake me up and I snap awake before anyone gets to my tent, though Sagir just flails her legs out and then just rolls up more into all the blankets taking them for herself while she sleeps. I and Nual’sha notice that the shapes in the distance are a pack of wolves. The back then comes to inch closer and attacks Lucious, though he did try to separate himself out from the rest making him a target.

I try to get their attention but they are more focused on Luka. Nual’sha at the same time becomes a bear and goes after the larger wolf (warg). To try and help Luka I then light my cutlass on fire and get their attention. I tell them if they stop we will give them food and water, but none agree and one of them lunges at me. He slightly grazes my neck as I parry most of the bite with my sword burning his mouth slightly. Then Luka hits the wolf in the hind leg. While doing this Nual’sha wrestles the warg to the ground and makes him yield. I then offer to heal the wolf in trade for translation and offer to be friends and teach each other skills if they agree to be nice and not attack. Most do not want to and leave but the smallest one agrees. His name is Greymaine. I agree if he wants and does not bite us or our animals and friends then he can have some meat, water, shelter, warmth, and I will keep him groomed. Then once the warg gets the chance to run, he flees us, and we do not see him again.

We travel a day and Graymaine keeps his distance from us but stays close by. I keep leaving some food and water for him hoping he will slowly realize I will not hurt him and protect him. I agreed our “pack” will not hurt him so long as he does not hurt us.

That evening we make it to the old town. It seems to be complete stripped bare, more than sun strips sand of color. All the buildings are stone and decayed wood. The well is completely dry. We decide to sleep in one of the buildings that evening. I decide to sleep outside the building to prove trust to Graymaine that I will not hurt him and he will have access to attack before anyone can stop him. I also keep a long lasting fully cased spell of Mystic Feeling so I will know if there is magic near me. While Greymaine sleeps I cover him in a blanket and put my pillow under his head so he is comfortable.

Nual’sha during his watch notices some magical effect and wakes everyone up. I follow and see that it is some weird mix of light and darkness energies pool near the center of town, just before sunrise. I decide that is a bad omen for us staying there. I decide to start packing up my gear and prepping us for leaving the town. No one stops me from doing that and we decide to continue heading west.

We eventually make it to the kobold fortress. While scaling up and over the side I without thinking walk straight into a false ceiling pen. Just before falling in I grab a hold of the solid top, swing around like a pendulum and flip back out. Then as I walk again another springs around me and snaps up into my back as I almost dodge around most of it. The trap’s damage is absorbed by my armor.

After this Luka takes the lead and somehow falls into a final pit. He does find a door at the bottom and pulls it off. When he does a small cloud of dust rises and he starts to cough and shake. I ask Greymaine to keep Sagir safe and I will make certain he gets some extra food for it. I fly over and to the other side of the gatehouse. I then see Lucius and Rhytlock. I bring a clean fresh breeze to cleanse the dust and heal Lucius. Then I see that Rhytlock is stuck as he tries to move through the tunnel. Lucius tries to help free Rhytlock as I go and open the gate house to pull open the portculus so they can enter the fort.

Once in the fort, we head directly to the large central building. As we enter there is a kobold and we try to communicate but he does not speak a language we understand. After I say something he waves his spear in a non-threatening manner and runs off. Then a minute or two later he comes back with some other kobold that wears a vine crown and has trinkets attached to a staff. Through the use of poor communication, we learn that this person is the priest Mikmak of his clan and follows the god Wringtail. The other is a warrior named Mavbup. Their clan chief is Moke. Luka in the process gives the priest some of his water and both share it. This marks true peaceful intentions. Maybe he is learning how to be a better person or is just trying to atone for his sins against The Brothers. So, for a month we will not do harm and show friendship between them and us. We are able to agree that we will exit the fort and tomorrow he will come to us and teach us his language for a day or two and we will teach him ours. This way we can better communicate. So we leave to set up camp and then wait for Mikmak to come to us.
