Well today ends a bit rough. After Mikmak instructed us in how to speak his language, we finalize a plan for how to try and build a plan to get the clan to unit again under Chief Moke’s rule. Olyssa wants to just kill them all. She is overly insistent in bringing misfortune to these kobald’s friends and family. I get her and Mikmak to agree to have a big talk and it be a real talk. I am not certain Olyssa is a good person; maybe she is a more social version of Luka. I would like to know why Peraga can’t contract people who are not violent and want to actually talk peace? Maybe over time Olyssa will see being less violent is a good thing compared to her wanting to kill and bring misfortune. She does not realize that her killing is why she died by killing and others will want to kill her.
The next morning Olyssa and I go to talk to Mikmak. When we wake Cynica is again out with reborn sickness and Nual’sha is either suffering as well or finally ate enough to hibernate. We head into the fort to find Mikmak so we know who, when, and set up a where to have the “Big Talk”. To help lead us to Mikmak we use a new good friend Timtom. He wants to know about us and why we are so different and not have to fear us. His first questions are do you eat meat? Do you leave home? Why do you leave home? Do you eat lizards? What was your last holiday? Do you worship not Wicked Tail? I answer all of those questions and more. I really think Timtom is one of the best new friends we have made here. He will be more than welcome to visit and learn if he is going to act like this and be so peaceful.
When talking to Mikmak I realize I have a job with this group since Jana is not waking up from her sickness currently. I am to be the translator for the group and teach them how to talk to each other well along with everyone here maybe. Mikmak wants to have “Big talk” and it be a trick. We discuss how talking is not a trick and a means to not have to kill them all. He agrees to try and see if Chief Moke will let the other group relocate. When he returns, we are told the 12 that killed must die and the rest can shame and flee with us to a new home. Each will meet at our camp and talk.
We are led to the utility rooms by the apprentice trapmaster Dunjin. He shows us how to find all the traps on the door, floor, and ceilings. We get through the first room safely and he goes back to work with Mikmak. In the next room we purposely set off a trap to see how it works and small fist sized carved rocks fall and cover the entire floor. The next room we clear after I remove a heal a spike from Olyssa’s head after she set off a trap, and then step back and purposely pop a wire that mostly collapse the first room in this area. We must then crawl through and it takes a short bit. I explain to Olyssa how the wizard in our group, Cynic or Ignaci, is cursed by the efreet.
As we get through Cynica followed us in. As I float over to check a door he just walks in and sets off a massive fiery explosion in the room. As the flames move in to me, I am able to create a bubble of safe air so my lungs do not burn up and heal as fast as I burn. This proves my point that the efreet have cursed Ignaci.
As we get to the next room; we let Ignaci open the door to leave it. When he breaks the wire, a large number of pots fall and make some loud noises. As he looks up from the pots and moves slightly out of the way we can see some guards with spears pointed at us. I quickly sign I want to set up talks with Tenfin to discuss ending the feud between his group and Chief Moke. One of them goes to get Tenfin and then we wait in that room.
When Tenfin shows I have to introduce us and explain my role as translator. We discuss a way with Tenfin about meeting and he agrees to meet outside the south wall. It will be Chief Moke, Mikmak and their group to meet with Tenfin and 11 others to be shamed and allowed to leave. In the discussion we learn that the reason is not over defiance like a teen defying his father. The fight is over the deity that Tenfin and his followers decided to worship. Tenfin says he follow Amorta, the eternal power over undeath. I am sure I leave no sign about my thoughts on this information. Once we leave I turn to the Cynica and Olyssa and tell them flatly that these people will burn, bleed, and lay in pieces while dead.
We head back to find Mikmak to tell him the news about meeting outside the south wall. Mikmak is annoyed as he and Dunjin planned traps for the “Big Talk” Trick. I have to tell him we moved the location to the south wall so as to not get our campsite involved too. But Mikmak understands reluctantly and so him and Dunjin go to set up dirt traps on the south wall side for the meeting, I do promise them food for helping and understanding.
I get 5 fires going at our camp, 1 in the middle for cooking and 4 others to radiate warmth all around us. No one should have to live in the cold that it is getting here. As I finish cooking, I notice a slight shift in the air and faint burnt smell all around. I start to center myself as I take the food off the fire and release the spell a few seconds after a circle of flame erupts around us with Olyssa complaining about it and Ignaci is resolved in near laughter over it being not again. I just nonchalantly bury the cursed spell effect in dirt, and half heartly explain see cursed by the efreet. Then finish portioning out everyone’s food. As I finish this Mikmak and Dunjin show and I explain how the wall mound appeared and given them the dinner I promised.
I take the first watch, Olyssa takes the second one, and Cynica takes the last watch. I drape a blanket over Graymaine and provide him a pillow in a safe place in one of the walls, so it is sorta like a small den for him. I wrap my sister in her bedroll and blankets, tell her how proud I am of her and how well she is learning and how I would not make it out here without her being there, and sing her a soft nice lullaby as I stay up for watch. When my watch is over, I poke Olyssa’s tent until she wakes up and then I head into my tent to sleep.
I wake up early I know to the sound of Ignaci yelling in pain. I grab my cutlass, look back and see Sagir just stole my blankets and wrapped herself even more in them. I so wish I was her right now. I look out and see an arrow fly my way and move the side. Then I dart into the dark in the direction the arrow came from. I do hope this is not the last time I write while in Aos. I do not want to be in Perago ever again unless it is to just visit with my friend there. As my other one does not care to write me back and makes it seem clear the last time I talked to him I was such a fool he does not wish to stand my company.
