Session 22 and 23 so linked to games on 12/30 and 1/6 as 12/30 was mostly all combat.

by Amir (Emir)

As we climbed over the hill I felt the waves still of the need to make these bandits hurt for what they threatened and where. I get the others to follow my lead and walk down the hill towards them. This time instead of a small group of untrained people there seems to be 3 lines of them and some archers with a person in a cape or robe. Nual’sha takes on his form of a bear but this time is smart enough to add in some protection from spells as well. Olyssa is able to enspell 2 of the spearmen from the second rank, while Rosalita starts using her repeating crossbow to fire and hopefully sting some out. I rush towards the set of archers and the cloaked person. While I have their attention, I get the archers to fire at me and only once or twice does one even come close to hitting me. In the process I get a good trained shot into the cloaked persons neck and cleanly remove his head, likely was the person who trained or enabled the training for the lucky archer.

After about 2 minutes of constant combat it seems that 4 people is not the same as 30. We are doing good and take down a fourth of their rank, even though most are armored like a steel barrel and unmoving. Unfortunately, Olyssa and Rosalita both get hit hard and bad by some stray arrows, I guess they need to learn how to dodge and position themselves in battle better. I start a quick heal spell to get them up and prevent them from bleeding out. As soon as I do, I see an arrow miss me and hear the sound of pain and sorrow. One of the archers dared to attack an animal so I turn to see what they hit then I feel it. A life of pain in a single shot through a leg. I hear my sister cry out. I dash in speed like the wind as I come to the archer that fired the shot and end his life for the affront. As soon as I do I start to get an instant of unease and look to see how badly wounded my travel companions are. Instead of dying here I am able to shake off this bloodlust and start to cast a spell to egress us all out of this place.

While building energy I notice the pain this group is in. Nual’sha is bleeding out and there is nothing I can do about it. Olyssa is again on the ground and rolling away as their unit leader is attempting to stab her in the chest. Rosalita as she seemed to be building some energy around her is passed out and looking like her soul is not there anymore. As I finish my spell Nual’sha is about 10 seconds into Perago, and I am pretty much the only one left standing. I take us all out and move about 500 yards back. Then as I start to move again to triage my sister and people around me I am sent again another 500 yards more away as Oylssa casts a spell that does the same thing as me. I start to wrap up and work on Sagir’s injured leg.

I get the benefit of starting to work on Sagir in peace until it seems that someone is trying to get my attention. When I start to notice events around me, I am sitting in the sad circle rite that Yondali has us all learn to create. Her and Olyssa are talking to each other and they try to include me in the conversation, but I am uncertain what they are discussing. There is something about Nual’sha and us fighting bandits that attacked Greenwood. How we were outmanned and armed. I just have to stop them and ask when we made it to Greenwood, why is this place so far away from the road with us all hurt so bad.

Olyssa informs me that the moment I last remember was 4 days ago. She seems a bit worried over this as well. I am just confused why this group would even travel from a place for 4 days when no one knows where they are going well. Also, how could it be 4 days I just walked into the Circle of No. The second worst part is I was told we made it to Greenwood and left it again. The worst is she claimed I violently and in cold blood killed a person with magic. At that point, I just release all my insides out to the frozen wasteland then rock while I wrap Sagir into a cloth papoose, so she will not have to walk. I then make certain everyone is no longer bleeding out and safe to travel. Then I just start walking in complete silence, my head down, and gently petting and holding sister while heading to a safe cave we are informed about for the night.

When in the cave we see Rhtylocke walking from the back of it and an old human man in the middle of the open space. Rhtylocke and Olyssa ask to see who he is and why he is here. It seems he is old and trying to return home, but his age and my weak will against the cursed circle caused him to be unable to finish. Olyssa and Rhytlocke step out to talk and leave me with him. I learn his name is Ott and he is wishing he could make it to the village of Pike, which is about a 1 ½ day travel east of hills below Greenwood. I learn he is a follower of The Old Farmer and seems to know his health will not get him through the night. I try to make him comfortable and ask if he wants last rites for his faith. I let him know I follow The Brothers, but I will do my best for his soul since his body will not complete the homecoming to his family. After rites are done; I sing for him and also with the Brother’s help and blessing am able to play some music as well for the man. I make sure everyone there has a good meal, I choose to not ingest any myself as I do not think it will stay down, that evening and stay up to complete a death watch. I promise Ott that when I get the chance the first thing I will do after dealing with Greenwood and bandits is to head to Pike and search out his family to let them know where he is and that he passed peacefully into the acreage of the Old Farmer’s homestead thinking of all the positive memories and love he had for them.

After this I step out of the cave and start to use my weapons for a grave. Nual’sha seems to be awake and without me asking or speaking he magically transforms into a badger to completely dig out the grave. I place the body in the ground and cover him in some cloth. I take the rest of his materials and possessions and safely wrap them in my backpack, so I can return them to his family.

I complete my next task for the group of making breakfast, so they have a full stomach to travel on. I am extra certain to use the enchanted pot for the nice homely feeling as I feel they need the gentle rise in emotions. I them break down my part of camp and wrap Sagir into her carrying papoose so she does not have to use her injured leg and carry her as well all the way to Greenwood. I notice about slightly more than half way there it is becoming hard to keep the snow and wind off me, and I just stop trying and brace for it. I also break the wind for Sagir helping to keep her warm against me. At the end of the day it seems there is some tall brown structure and I hear something about talking from Olyssa. I mention Henry and just sit for a second on the ground against the rising inner brown line.

The next thing I notice is that I am not where I was. I am in some bedroom of sorts and in a bed not of my own. It hits me that I must be in someone’s room and so wake to have a conversation with people here. When I do get out of my room it seems that the sun has already hit the highest point and my companions are discussing a plan of action in the tavern at Greenwood. We all agree to find a way to have a meeting with this Vile King. The hope, from me, is he will come to reason and give up his bandit path and instead decide to work under Henry and his family to better protect people in the area and be more productive citizenry.
