Session 16

by Amir (Emir)

Today has been an interesting 24 hours. First, I was able t make a good bit of food for us and our guests. After I got a good fire going for the day our new acquaintances Mikmak and Mavbup come to the camp. We spend the first 3 hours trying to learn how to speak with these kobolds in their own language. It is weird like the lizard people; they do not use their voice to speak. Rhylock and I learn how to communicate in their language using just hands and body gestures. In trade we also teach Mikmak and Mavbup how to speak Spracha.

While we do learn I got some good information. I learned some about how they have some bad smelling kobolds that have split their family and home making it hard to live happy. We also learn some about their people and stories. Surprisingly Mikmak is not that bad of a story teller. I learn some about Wicked Tail from Mikmak. The most surprising thing is how much Nual’sha already knew about Wicked Tail. For an elf who claims to know nothing about the gods he knows a large amount about Wicked Tail. I think he secretly was worshiping this faith all along. I guess for non-kobolds and lizard people it is supposed to be a secret when you follow one of their gods, unless directly asked about it. That is a weird rule but then maybe it makes sense for non-lizard followers of lizard people gods. Though I do find it funny that a person who follows a lizard person deity does not learn the kobold language as easily as I do.

To show friendship and willingness to be partners and allies we agree to help Mikmak and Chief Mooke. We agree to help them try and talk the otherside of their people back to being a happy part of the clan under Moke if at all possible. Somehow, we are supposed to be able to smell the difference of the 2 groups. I am not certain how that works when there is no determining smell among them. But either way we agree and at the end state the meeting went well so that Mikmak will also be able to say the meeting went well to Chief Moke.

At the end of the day we decided to stay the night beside their camp. I first made multiple small fires to have 4 directions of warmth. This way no one gets cold and even Gray Maine has an option on where to sleep and be warm. Now that winter has officially set in, the chilling curse of the efreet shadow is going to lay on the land until the Day of Hearth Warming. I do hope to have a hearth to call my own by then, even if it is only 1 room.
That night while on watch I notice movement in the distance and can hear something move towards the camp. I move to see what it is, and it seems at first the creature cannot see or hear me. At the last moment the creature seemed to notice I was there but unable to see me. As I get it move past me I slide quietly back to camp and wake Nual’sha. It looked like a weird troll that has mange.

It seemed to be going towards the kobolds’ home, so I called on magic to help prevent the creature from surprise attacking the kobolds’ home. In doing so the creature started to radiate a low moving pulse off his body alerting anyone near by of its presence. Once the magic started Nual’sha changed into a bear and charged the same as I did with a lit flaming cutlass.

We battled for what seemed like a soul’s eternity in the debate of leaving the body or not. We constantly were cutting, biting, and clawing at the creature. In the midst of the fight the Kobolds started to attack the creature as well. I knew I would not do much damage; I made certain I would be as much a distraction as possible. I started to dance and slice between its legs. Then as we started to get tired, Ignacio showed up and used the power of his misfortune to severely damage the pitiful creature. Then it took him a bit to summon and channel the powers of the efreets. While he did the creature tried to suck the life around it into itself to heal the wound caused. Slowly, we continued to cut and harm it until it was laying on the ground. As it rested for a minute trying to again summon the life of others Cynica was able to summon a fire into the creature’s torso forever killing it.
As we recovered our senses from the fight I went to check on the kobolds and Mikmak. I float over and see one of their family was slain. Due to their size it is hard for them to carry him, so I offer to aid. As I get him to what looks like the burial location inside the temple I see the hurt and pain this thing caused. I know it is our job to make certain they suffer no other harm with the split in their family home and houses.
