Session 8

by Amir (Emir)

Well today was interesting. I got the chance this morning to discuss some questions I had about what happened last night with Camilla. After that we had some breakfast and then there was an unsettling anxious feeling hit us. I went to check on our other 2 travelling companions. I noticed they have what is told as Reborn Sickness, but to get some warning and information I tried to talk to the elf’s porcupine and she was a bit grouchy. So, I left her be to make certain the elf was o.k.

After that Camilla and I work to make a communication with Yondali. We talk a bit and she mentions we will have another warrior join us named Luka but he said he wants to be called Lucious. She also says before we go west into Ne’Lindia (I can never get that country name correct) we have to explore this area of Mesender, get a good reputation for ourselves and people to have a reason to unite under our banner I have with me. She tells us where to find Luka/Lucious. Then, she states to have the person cross over we have to find an animal or person to kill as an offering. At that point, I declare I’m not going to be a part of it as I do not use magic to bring misfortune. I leave to let Camilla and Yondali talk.

When they are done we discuss how to deal with travelling companions, her friends. We decide to leave their inn doors locked and tell people they are sick. We walk about 2 hours north to see a small feathered person. I think the race is called Aliwa but I have never seen one, just heard of them. He slaps a fist over his heart and then says reporting for duty. At the same time, he has a large boar skewered through on some sort of pole. He seems to be interested in following orders so likely a soldier. He also did not care about the loss of life for the boar. I give a prayer to who ever is over this animal’s soul to say my condolences and may it find piece in the afterlife. I am certain it was a good creature that needs someone to mourn its passing. After that when I get back to the aliwa and Camilla they are talking about needing to butcher it some for food and then switch to speaking in Jessik; I do Camilla is explaining how random acts of killing without sadness is wrong. In the mean time I prep the animal for meat and trade with luck, so maybe my prayer was answered, and I carry it back to Duran’s Outpost (maybe all the calisthenics on the road and strength training is paying off as it is not too bad to carry).

I have the idea of trading meat for some coverage of nights in the tavern. The Aliwa is good enough to at least talk to Duran and make that deal. We get a total of 12 free nights stay, maybe another good performer will pass, and we can trade songs and art. We decided to eat a quick meal for lunch and I get a nice bath to clean off the filth and blood. During the meal we hear about how bandits are fighting with the next trading post, but we decide to first wait to see how well our companions fight off this illness before heading that way.

We explore south of us. We come to discover an old partially buried temple. I float over to the roof to inspect for anything and find a weird symbol on it. I try to draw it but have no clue who it is about. Camilla says that it is the symbol of Liviana, an old human imperial deity. I go to look in the hole of the roof and I don’t see anyone so in old Lingua I say “Hello is anyone there?” With no response I go to knock on the door. I am betting I made a person mad by using the roof instead of the door. When I open the door an arrow shoots into my right leg again. This brings back the memories of that last fight with human bandits. I horridly try to treat my injury. As I get some of it completed Cami is heals the rest of it. She then also uses a spell so no matter who we talk to in there we can all understand what is said. Once all that is done we go in. I clean off what might be an offering bowl and stand, place the bowl back, and leave a silver for everyone here. Then we go to check on the back door that is not covered in rubble and I knock again before walking in. The room has canvas over the windows and so is a bit dark. I look around and we all notice the place has new furniture and old rotten things. I see a working desk and leave a note in Old Lingua and Sprache that reads “I would like to talk and if you need help with your home I am staying at Duran’s Outpost Thank you, Emir”.

At that time Cami brings me a book to look at. It is hard to read but I can make out the title easily enough Reports of Servius. I read the first paragraph and notice this is personal journal entries. I place the book back and state we are moving through a person’s home and that is rude. I will be outside. Camilla goes to clean up some of the dust from the alter for a bit while the aliwa seems to think rudeness is a perfectly fine social trait. He eventually gets a piece of some heavy furniture moved and then yells something I am not completely certain the phrase. I walk back and see him being paced back by a human with a knife at his throat. I just think that shows what rudeness gets you.

The man, whom I assume is Servius, talks with us a bit about how he is the priest here. He and Camilla have a heated discussion about priest style matters, I guess it is a difference of faiths but has me curious. He tries to ask us all things but Camilla and the aliwa speak constantly louder and faster than I can respond. In the middle of it the aliwa attempts to take a dagger off the human and gets his hand caught. The human pulls up his arm at a fast and unusual angle, so it dislocates the aliwa’s shoulder and he starts to scream. I wanted to tell him that he can be thankful since theft would mean loss of that hand where I’m from, but it screams too much to say. I am able to get Cami to take the aliwa out and have a short conversation.
The first thing I do is ask for contrition and offer services due in trade. Servius wishes to have the aliwa admit he was wrong and give an apology. After that he wants me to prove I mean no harm so I sit down palms up and my backpack open, so he can see all that I do. We start to discuss our issues and then a foul smell starts to waft in. I use up most of my magic for the day to cleanse the air with a long-lasting refreshing ocean breeze that covers the smell and moves it away. I even mention the clean air will last for about 2 ½ months. We discuss my personal goals and main objectives which I admit are not what the group’s objectives are. And to finalize this I agree to come back without others and bring him a meal in the process to break bread and learn about each other and culture of each other.

I get back to the aliwa and Cami. I see Cami is kneeling down in prayer. So, I kneel down and when she is done. I tell her I have the priest willing to talk with me and maybe help. I just have to comeback tonight alone. The aliwa is yelling about his shoulder extremely hurting. I tell him if I help him then he has to give a formal apology at the door of the temple to Servius. He starts to make a sound and I snap his shoulder back into place. Aliwa are much easier to move than Aros and Hydros body parts. I walk him down and he yells out a badly worded apology. Then he flies up and into the temple resetting the traps, as his way of giving a real apology. When we leave he then explains to me that when I go back I should be careful as he excremented on the roof as a way to show disdain. He also gives me a quiver of arrows as an offering of contrition as well. So, he understands he was rude and overtly so. I hope he might understand how much energy was used for cleansing the mess he made. I will deal with that problem as well when I return to finish my owed services to Servius.

I do hope the rudeness of this aliwa will not spread and taint this group of companions. I am just now starting to feel like I might have 1 sister and 2 friends since I died.
