Finally, the weird sleeping sickness thing that affected Zahra and Shirin is gone. Though when they woke Zahra is still as mean and demanding as before. Shirin after seeing all her stuff is there ranted for a bit over how I messed up her tent, so she could be transported. Then when she is done complaining and yelling she gives all the positive credit to her and Catalina for it. This shows she thinks I am weird and not worth the weight of everyone else who has made it through an apprenticeship. But after I realize her view she then gets all super friendly and trying to get and touch my gear. So, I just tell her that I need time and space in hope I get left out of her ploy.
Nasrin while we are setting up camp goes to ask most inappropriate question to an intelligent being. She dares to ask the chicken how she can eat her, right after asking what her name is. Then she wants to eat her eggs. Why would something that makes eggs eat eggs? I mean that is pure cannibalism. But the chicken is asking for nest material to be comfy and she is refusing. So I just walk get nesting supplies and hand it to the chicken in her cage. All the while the 2 meanest of the women here are arguing over what happened, what needs to happen and watches. Well if I die then no big deal. Just means I get to Perago quickly and will end up where I knew I would in a booth. So as much punishment as it is at least I would eventually get back with Sagir and it will be warm.
At some point during the night Zahra decides to be a mean trick on me and others at night. She tries to make me go out in the cold over some sound she made with magic. I am smart enough to just lay in my tent where it’s warm. Then as we walk a short bit in the morning I see an ogre walking perpendicular to our direction. For some reason people are worried about it. I mean no need to worry since it left us be and is going in another direction. But as always Catalina seems to focus on fighting and starting a fight that does not need to happen since we all are intelligent people.
We finally get to the hamlet south of Finley’s Stop, Swordon. The place has a 20 ft tall rock with a giant greatsword placed inside it. I stop the first person I see and as well I start failing to find Yondali by not knowing this language. The second person I can barely communicate with and get told to speak to the Lordsman.
As I go there and about to speak Catalina and Zahra start speaking up not even knowing everything I am doing. They also seem to want to take extra time with a field of words when short sentences and a single row will work. Then using those fields of words, they get us forced into the noble’s home, so that more time is wasted. Zahra then agrees to inform the Lordsman about the ogre so the town can hunt and kill it in trade for water and knowledge that the place has 5 clergymen and he has no clue about Yondali. WATER is worth a creature’s LIFE to her when there are tons of it on the cursed frozen ground. Then to top it off without further trade of items or coin she has us given food. Which if we were of the same status is fine but since he is a lordsman and us commoners, except maybe her, that means servitude for a task once ours is done. That I know will mean we have to kill the innocent Ogre. I will have no part of it. So as soon as the Lordsman leaves I get Sagir out and we go find her food or help her hunt some down.
After a short bit of time, I see them come out and I refuse to even ask what the task is. If I know then I would be linked to join it. I refuse to take a life for water and food when we all have travel rations still. I mention we should talk to the priest that worships old human farmers instead of a real deity. These women then talk over and dismiss my idea so I just walk that way and then they follow behind. After this same person says he has not seen her and explains who the other faiths are, at least 2 seem like gods. Why does this place worship old human farmers and old human artisans instead of a deity? I decide I am going to talk to the priest of luck, but the woman are so busy bothering a priest who obviously was busy I get ignored. I take my drawing with me and head there.
Here there is couple sitting and talking. I bow my head and ask if I can interrupt them in hopes they can help me. I make certain not to look them in the eye as I am an interloper to their business and making them stop. The woman says she can help me if I pray with her, even though I am not of her religion. For the service of prayer, she will help me with a blessing and no more. I follow what she does and pray then she puts her hand out and says her deity of Luck will make certain for a short time all I do to find Yondali will be more likely in good fortune. I am so thankful finally someone not from my town, or Netski, is willing to do me aid. So, I step out and walk into the open then I ask that once again Magic to please help me as I am tired, cold, and need to find home with a place or people I can call friends help me find where Yondali went. I send out all the energy I can into that request and after a minute Magic answers.
Sagir starts to see the path we should take and even the time we need to stay in that place. So I start to walk that way, following her. I know this has to be hard on her so when she tires I will carry her. I meet up with the other women that went to some tent and Nasrin. Nasrin was also lucky and got to find a person of her people to relax with and find home in a foreign land, thank The Brothers for that blessing too. I just wish I could be so lucky. The rest seem to want to talk to a merchant and spend his time. Though why go to a store and waist a merchant’s time when you can’t buy anything makes no sense, unless either Zahra or Catalina is also a thief. They go and come back in less than an hour and for once do not argue with me but want to quickly leave. So now I know that Catalina is a bloodthirsty woman, and Zahra is a con artist or thief as well. Only reason to quickly turn to do as I ask and not question or yell at me.
While I waited on the thieves to swindle from the merchant Shirin stays with me and Sagir. She seems to try and give me a bracelet for free claiming it is for me being her friend. But I am no sand flea of mind, I know better. So I will not be forced in rules of gift to be brought into this Lordsman bonds when done or be forced to follow this con artist or servant owner, that has to be what Zahra is since she talks down to Shirin and Shirin not rebutting or fighting back, I give her an earring of equal value. I am not as dumb as Zahra might take me for and be forced to work for Zahra and the mayor of Perago, who claims to be more than he/she is.
Once we travel some I will calm down my annoyance towards Shirin, for she is now in servitude to not 1 but 3 lords and owners. I do feel sorry for her. She must be a strong woman as she can lie so well about being in good spirits almost all the time. When we are done I should help her be on safe status with everyone else. Then we can both be free of our bonds and work to make certain no one is bonded this way while we work to remove an undead forest and craft a country. To show I mean that I will make certain the people already there do not have to feel the burden she does. That will be my gift to her as a way to say sorry for being a mariner’s blot.
After travelling until the magic in Sagir says to stop. To make certain the Lordsman cannot easily send messengers and get me off course of the trail Sagir sees I make camp in the spot she says to stop and wait. I know this means I am in the road but it makes for a peaceful demonstration of protest against death the Lordsman will send towards the innocent forest dweller. During the night I was right as the Lordsman sent out some messenger named Bernat to run ahead on the trail and try to get people to rally to his cause of killing someone that has not been found guilty of murder. I decide to stay in my tent so he does not realize I am there to hear him discuss the Ogre. I catch part of the conversation but I understand what is said. I hear ---- Ogre in the area. Catalina saying we know we ---- the Lordsman and we plan to ---- -- . He then rides away.
The next bit of the journey seems to be quiet and uneventful as we hit the next place Sagir says to stop and wait. She complains that the magical tracks she is seeing is too much on the ground so she go to climb a tree. I fly up to defend her or catcher just in case right as Catalina a goes off to hide herself from site like a bandit. I loose sight of were Catalina and Nasrin go but I do start to hear sounds of things running in the woods so I know they are deciding to just kill something to feed their bloodlust. These women complain about no food when they have rations and food. If they never want to eat these rations then why buy them. So to keep Sagir comfortable and relaxed in the tree I sit there above her and sing to her while we wait.
