So now that the struggle to deal with the worst smelling troll is over I am helping to bury Movbup. Of course, as I start, and Nual’sha is dragging Ignaci around as he has fallen from the fight is when I seem to get a nagging sense of anxiety. I wonder is it because I am carrying one of the dead kobold heroes to his final resting place with Wicked Tail. I do hope that Wicked Tail does not let this brave soul be forced into indentured servitude like I was. As I get to the core of the complex and see about 100 kobolds all scared over what happened. I wish I could help them feel calm and know they are safe now. I really do think these people have caring hearts for each member of their family and clan. As I wait in the room with the kobolds and try to see if I understand what they are saying somewhat better the anxiety feeling gets worse
I wonder if we ended up bringing the unlifed creature to them somehow? Was it looking for us for getting our group’s name out more or worse me for being more known and so I now bring misfortune to places. Then Nual’sha stops my circular thoughts to say the feeling is Yondali wanting to talk. I know better than to cast magic of ritual of misfortunate essences in a place like this, it only makes the sorrow worse. He willingly walks off and away to call the essence of death to come. You would think Yondali would know that we are in the process of mourning and need some peace to heal. He comes back shortly to tell me we have to meet a new member of this motley crew her patron has pressed into indentured service.
Early the next morning we head of to southwest to find where she is to be, all while carrying my sister sleeping as a stuffed grape leaf in her bedroll and blanket. We see her coming out of the ground, fitting I guess since we all know she is dead and now getting the chance to right any wrongs or atone for sins of her past. Instead as she goes a python comes around her, since she invaded his home, and bites her. As soon as he sinks his teeth into her and starts to coil I call out “She is bad meat and if you let her go we can find you normal good meat.” The snake is willing to take my offer. This proves once again that most animals are smarter than violent people. I track down a rabbit and kill it for the snake instead, then offer prayers to the gods that the spirit of the rabbit is in a good place and it knows I am sorry for taking her life.
When I get back I can hear Nual’sha and this woman discussing her journey or something. I walk up and Nual’sha introduces me to her and she to me as Olyssa. They discuss why we are hear and she mentions and implies she killed people and is fine causing misfortune on families and taunting the curse of sand and flame to her by not repenting the misfortune. Why must everyone be so violent or enjoy casting the magics of anger and rage that the efreet do so often? We discuss country plans and survey plans anew and that we have to return to our friends the kobolds to finish trying to solve their family pain, but now she needs to learn the language too.
When we return, we head directly into Fort Kobold to talk with Priest Mikmak. We get stopped by a great kobold warrior named Ickjook and he says that Mikmak is still performing his rites and rituals, so we have to wait. As we wait, I try to get more a feel for the people we are seeing and how they might better function as a family again. Mikmak finally comes to ask us if we are ready to have one of us do a great talk for them.
You know the idea that having to have a big talk with both sides all alone is scary. I sorta am not certain I can do this. I know Nual’sha is no help. The violent woman I doubt will be helpful as she can’t speak to them. I know she seems concerned or interested when we make stabbing motions at each other. I know Mikmak thinks the others will not listen and so are likely to be stabbed and killed. I do hope I can “big talk” them into a peaceful separation of households, at worst. Though it would be great if I and the others here can talk to them and they agree to be one large family again. I bet Wicked Tail would like for all his trickster fighters to be in 1 place over 2.
Though why does everyone like to fight so much? Do people not realize the more you prepare to solve issues with violence the more likely you are to make an encounter violent? I am glad I got my thoughts out of the whirlwind when coming here. I let the bloodlust of the others here define my mind and I know better. For some reason Rhylock has used the term face for us, and the violent woman said have a bleeding heart. Both confuse me since everyone has faces. My heart is not bleeding. I would think that if it was I would be dead forever then.
