Ferrelwood

You always have a special place for your home town, and I am no exception of course. Yes, despite all the steep lanes I'd have to climb on a dark night and watching my head for falling roof tiles, there is a certain charm to the place. Nothing I have quite managed to find anywhere else.

The town on the hill, Clocktower peak, Ferrelwood. All names for this mid sized town nestled between the Great Forest and the city of Yroh Wood. Trickling down the slope of ahill, this old fashioned town has been around since the days of the ancient Acurans, living through a number of historical events.

Demographics

The town is mainly home to Sorcerers and Marubell who escaped the The Basilisk Maze many years ago. There is however a small network of Alum in the town that focus on the natural connection to time. Learning the ways of time based magic in secret, the townsfolk assume they are all Minauran and are none the wiser to their true origins.

Government

While many towns use the common currency of gold, Ferrelwood stands out. Instead opting for a bartering and trading system as tools, materials and skills are far more valuable in this environment than gold ever could be.   Keeping law and order is the Sheriff, who also acts as the mayor with many town based decisions resting on their shoulders. The sheriff's most important role is to keep the locals safe from the dangers of wandering monsters to the internal conflicts of trades. To help run the town, there is a militaristic group of enforcers known as The Tamers who keep law and order.

History

Origins: In ancient times, when the first great cities were still new and uncommon in the world, the town of Ferrelwood became a safe haven for settlers in the South West of Cytal. As the town was often under seige from shadowy beasts and creatures straying too far from the Great Forest, it became a beacon for adventurers and warriors to test their strength against these feral creatures.   Greenskin skirmish: During the time of Exploration, many sorcerers left to explore the realms. But portals work both ways and the travels to other realms often led unknown creatures coming into the realm of magic. One faction of greenskinned beasts called Orcs took advantage of this in an attempt to conquer Violem. But their scouting party was met by the warriors of Ferrelwood and exiled back to their home world.   Portaller Refuge: At the beginning of the dark times, portal magic and travel to other realms was banned across the lands. Deeming too dangerous for the people of this world. As such, many Realm Rangers were hunted down due to their jobs as travelling between realms. The people of Ferrelwood kept many of the rangers safe, hiding them from the forces of others who began hunting them down.   Death of Exerone (The Last Acuran): The story of the Last Acuran that only seems to be told in bedtime stories, the events which the stories are based off happened in the town of Ferrelwood. With the mirror frame still locked away at the top of the clocktower.
