City of Wisdom

Birohhal, the city of wisdom, learning and a hub of scholars. Originally built during the age of exploration as a way for like minded people to expand their knowledge on realm travel. Later expanding to other subjects such as ancient magic, cosmic activity and enchantments. The city of Wisdom has become the largest city in Cytal, making it a household name across the lands.

The Locals:

Upon entering the stone paved streets and marvelling at the marble and sandstone buildings, you may come across some of the most well established guilds across the realm. Groups like the Ivory Champions, a group of warriors and protectors who devote their lives to protecting not only the streets of Birohhal but also those in need from external creatures. If you dig a little deeper into the city, you'll find the archeology experts, Paramound. A guild obsessed with looking for relics from the past to draw a history of Violem. Of if you wander into the university district, you will find one of the many scholars and tutors who are experts in the various schools of magic, from evocation to elemental control.
At the helm of all these groups, is the council of Birohhal. Led by Mayor Duella who has her hands firmly on her city and protects it with a fierce but fair mindset. With advisors from each of the major factions to ensure no one is left out of conversations about the city they all love.

Visitor Hotspots:

If you plan on visiting the city, then there is a few must see locations. The most popular is the Great Library of Birohhal, the largest library in all of Violem. Housing information, stories and secrets that would overwhelm anyone who tried reading it all. Looking for a more hands on approach to learning? Then the university campus is where you should be. A collection of floating towers, grounded churches and arenas to test your magical knowledge in a practical environment.
Another wonderous place is the gardens of memory. Located at the centre of the city with some of the oldest Great Oak trees in Cytal. Preserved and rooted in neat rows for visitors to awe at. Or if you wish to look into the past, Paramound's base of operations includes a museum of artefacts they have found over the years, with an exhibit replicating a portion of the Realm Rangers Headquarters. A group dedicated to learning all they could about portal magic and other realms before being disbanded during the Portal Ban.

Major Events:

Many historical events have taken place within the grounds of Birohhal. One of the most famous involves the Ivory Champions, who fought an army of undead invading the city in search of the Necronomicon. With the heroes leaving triumphant and solidifying them as some of the greatest warriors of all time.
As mentioned earlier, the portal ban began in the city. After deeming realm travel being too dangerous, all major cities and towns signed a decree banning portal magic across the realms. This meant the group known as Realm Rangers were forced to disband and give up their jobs and life's work or face being hunted and imprisoned. Beginning the biggest man hunt in history and kick starting the Dark Times.
In more recent history a teacher named Valan within the university began noticing many people losing passion for learning. Overworking themselves to the point of exhaustion. After seeing a Seer and hearing the potential fate of Birohhal if this continued. Valan marched to the council and persuaded them to create a festival which would force people to take a much needed break. The council agreed and for the last 200 years, the city of Birohhal have celebrated Valan Day, a much loved holiday that often spans longer than a single day.
