Oralyn
Oralyn, home of sailors and water lovers everywhere. If looking on a map of Cytal you would find this city in the North West, at the edge of the continent. Erected during the Exploration times as a must be location for any traders wishing to sell overseas or for curious explorers of the Unknown Lands. Being so close to the ocean makes the city the perfect home for any water related species, from the Water Alum to Gillan. But that doesn't stop others coming to visit for the golden sandy beaches, quirky vendor stores and well maintained nature walks.
The Districts:
The city itself can be clearly separated into four areas of interest. First there is the Dockside, a port constantly occupied by various boats and ships wishing to do trade, whether exporting goods to neighbouring cities in Ascor or hiding something more nefarious on smuggling boats. Many of the city's warehouses and storage rooms can be found lined up, full of various valuable. Next there is the beaches, a popular place for visitors who wish to take a break and relax near the ocean in a safe environment. Elevated above both these districts is the main city, a collection of Tudor style buildings constructed with white stone wall and cobbled streets made from the sandy grey materials of the area. Here you can find all sorts of tourist shops, vendors selling unique items and the homes of the locals. Finally there is the sparse and expansive area of the High District, an area patrolled by the guards of Oralyn and home to the more wealthy beings in society. With many living in manor houses and mansions, separated by lush green fields and orchards of various colourful trees.Points of Interest:
The city by the sea is home to many attractions for the people of Violem to explore. There is the famous Oralyn beaches, perfect for a relaxing holiday listening to softly crashing waves. Then there is the Sunburnt Market, home of many tradesmen, sellers and owners of unusual and magical trinkets. If you are into sports, then check out the Octo Arena. Birthplace of the popular game The Golem Game which houses the Champions Tournament every year. Perhaps the more history loving beings would be interested in Hoarwae's departure, the port named after himself who set off on his adventures overseas at this very spot. Finally if you want to get out of the city and more in the midst of nature then Aloha's Qi-Yu Nature Reserve is the ideal spot, where the city aims to preserve the natural wildlife and plantlife native to the area.Guilds & Factions:
Many groups, businesses and clans of like minded people have made Oralyn their base of operation. Some welcome strangers with open arms, others you should be wary of. The most notable group is the Oralyn Guard, enforcers of law and order for all the districts of Orlayn and led by Mayor Kah-Lonn himself. Then there is the popular delivery service Cart N Cart, who carry supplies between many of the major cities including Birohhal, Elsgard and Ohar. More watchful eyes might see members of the public with golden embroidery, signalling their involvement with The Hoarders. A group obsessed with gold and treasure. If you enter the city, outsider must be aware of the Brazen Bandits and Gillan Rebels who cause chaos in the dark alleys and shadows of the night. Each with their own agenda and a threat to the mostly peaceful city. Finally there is rumours that circle in the High District of a hundred year old group known as The Fine Dining & Delicacy Club who have a certain affinity for the weird and wonderful cuisine found throughout Violem. With a city full of life, sights to see and views by the sea anyone who visits Oralyn is bound to get caught up in an adventure worth remembering.
