Minauran

Living in the Craters, you tend to come across Minauran a lot. Especially in the war, and if I can be honest, they are more determined and ferocious than some of the beasts out in the wild.
— Fiy-Lo, Shard Warrior Warrior
Minauran, meaning no-aura in ancient languages, describes those in Violem without the ability to wield magic themselves. Due to this lack of capability, the species as a whole have often been seen as lower class throughout most of history despite being the longest living race in present day. Despite not being able to perform magic, it does run through their veins, allowing them to develop a natural resistance to magical attacks, charms and potions.

Appearance:

From a distance, it is difficult to distinguish between Minauran and a Sorcerer. With the Minauran being an average height of 5ft 9" and having the same skin tones as any other being. The differences are more noticeable up close. With their eyes being dull and faded shades of grey, blue and purple as well as their more rounded ears. They often sport more hair than other races.   If you were to come across a Minauran along your travels, then you would quickly find they are practical, usually being experts in some form of craft. As well as realistic in their viewpoints which sometimes comes across as pessimistic. Finally their ability to use their surroundings to get out of situations makes them some of the most resourceful people in all the realm.

Location:

The Minauran can be found on every continent in Violem but often form close knitted communities to avoid life alongside magic users. The most prominent locations include the kingdom of Arison and the city of Uwoll.

History:

The non magical beings that are the Minauran have been around since the Acuran first discovered magic. In ancient times the two species co-existed with the non-magical fascinated and admired the abilities of their counterparts. Some even went as far as to worship them, seeing them as descendants of the Elders themselves.   But as the Acuran were cursed and devolved into Sorcerers, a rift began to form between the two groups. With Sorcerers believing they are better than Minauran, often banishing them from settlements and avoided whenever possible. This unfriendly response of the magic users caused the Minauran to live life in harsher conditions. Often being forced to defend for themselves against the wilds and forming settlements of their own.   Generations of being outcasts in their home realm left the Minauran left them a target by magical leaders and organizations. With very few ever being able to compete with the magic-less race in combat. The most notable defeat of the species came during the Minauran slaughter, which saw most of the population in the Western regions of Cytal hunted and killed by the Prince of Prassan. During these years, the cities of Entello and Prassan fell to ruins and the survivors built a new city in the Craters of Crellan. Naming it Uwoll, a haven for Minauran everywhere.   After the slaughter, the opinions of race changed, with Sorcerers once again seeing them as equals But the long history of resentment between the species still resides, and a mutual dislike has been formed.
