Acuran

Before we walked the lands, they lived here first. Before we made war, they fought a thousand more. Before we wielded the magic in the air, they shaped it to their will. They may not be here now, but we would cease to exist without them.

Acuran, named after the first of their kind, Acura, the first sentient species capable of manipulating magic to their will. This ancient race were the ones to discover the ways of magic, writing spells, drawing sigils and creating rituals that would become the basis for present day practices. A wise, proud and talented race that radiated with magical energy and often proved their abilities.

Appearance:

If they were to walk among the living today, they would stand 7ft tall, towering above most of the population of Violem. Facial features include small pointed ears and soft glowing purple eyes, some focusing this ability to help assist viewing in the darkness of night. With the Acuran walking the lands anywhere between 150 and 200 years, came a wisdom in their thinking, paired with a natural curiosity that helped them discover and develop the magical community further with each generation. Some came across as patronising and borderline obsessive while others were seen as masters of magic and deities of creativity. With all this access to magic, the species were naturally talented, often becoming masters of a specific form of magic and earning various titles such as Acuran of Waystones, Serpents and Protection.

Location:

While the species originated on the continents of Ascor and Cytal, they quickly became bored of their homelands and spread across all the lands of Violem, including Adolane/Hoarwae, the Untouched Lands and even throughout the realms of the universe. Gaining further titles and names from various species such as wizards, aliens, gods and more.

History:

Being one of the ancient species across all the realms, the history of Acuran is vast, involved with the evolution of many magical advancements and watching other species evolve. The creators of the universe, often called the Elders of the universe, took a fondness to the Acuran as a whole and often interacted with them. Sometimes bestowing gifts so powerful it could rival the strength of the Elders themselves. But after one too many attempted to overthrow and dispute with the creators of all things, the Elders saw to punish the Acuran for their betrayal. The most notable rivalry being Neroc the Dark Acuran
The results of this punishment saw the Acuran cursed for generations to follow, slowly taking away their magical strengths and blocking their ability to reproduce. Leading to the species being replaced by Sorcerers as the dominant species on Violem. By the end of the Exploration Era, Acuran had become far and few between. Numbers that were reduced even further an illness called *Acuran Madness which eventually wiped out Acuran off the mortal plane.The Last Acuran,Exerone, sacrificed her life to save the town of Ferrelwood from a creature of another realm.
