Character Creation

Races

  • Humans can be found throughout the continent of Vandrius, existing as the majority race in Korris, Colova, The Kakani Wilds, Aeskiir, Raqis, Najka, Dhamba, Bashka, Risea, and The River Kingdoms. There are also some human colonies within the archipelago, like Puertovilla and Kosica.
  • Elves originate from the continent of Eleron, and are known for their adaptability. Their physical characteristics are based on the part of the world they spend the majority of their formative years. They derive their cultural identity from an adherence to a particular ideology. Some examples include the Sun Elves who worship the gods of The Pantheon, the Wood Elves who revere the Archfey, and the Moon Elves who devote themselves entirely to the worship of the goddess Eilistra.
  • Merfolk are the most populous race in the seas of Qadanna. They are nearly as adaptable as elves, and have many subraces based on their habitat. All Merfolk are able to manifest a pair of legs to walk on land, but they usually prefer to stick to the waters. Kelp Merfolk live in the nearshore kelp forests, while Arctic Merfolk thrive in the food-rich waters of the polar caps. Coral Merfolk call the Vandrian Archipelago their home, and are the most amphibious of the Merfolk, spending much of their time on the islands.
  • The oldest Half-Elves are 24 years old, marking the first contact between humans and elves. They are a rarity anywhere you go, and while they tend to inherit the best attributes of both parent races, they often struggle to fit in with either culture.
  • Mountain Dwarves live solely in the underground city of Bhaldoral in the Abraska Mountains. Any dwarf who has ever breached the surface is exiled from the city and is forevermore known as a Hill Dwarf. The boomtown mining town of Boulderrest is home to the majority of Hill Dwarves. Duergar are extremely rare on the surface, but are known to exist in the caverns and tunnels beneath Bhaldoral.
  • Halflings make their home in the perpetual autumn of the Nevergreen Forest, while Lightfoot Halflings tend to travel throughout the lands, often struck by a strong wanderlust.
  • Half-Orc, like Half-Elves, are only 24 years old or younger, due to the recent meeting of humans and orcs. They tend to be larger and stronger than humans, and a bit cleverer than their orc parents.
  • Orcs are said to have descended from elves and live primarily in nomadic groups in the The Singing Steppe region of Eleron. Use the Orcs of Wildemount stat block.
  • Draga descend from the blood of dragons, and hail from the lands of Korris. They often assume positions of prominence in Korrian society, as sages or advisors. Oceanic Draga are a thing too!
  • Gnomes originated on the continent of Eleron. They are often clever tinkerers, and hail from the Brizzlebap Marshes or the Mushroom Forest of Nyup.
  • Aasimar, Tiefling, and genasi are humanoids with a touch of extraplanar influence in their bloodlines. These are considered lineages, so individuals of any race can be born with these traits. (Work with me to create such a character.)
  • Aasimar are typically revered as a blessing from the gods, but can be shunned in cultures that have rejected the gods.
  • Tieflings are said to be descended from demons, and are therefore persecuted against, but in many circles, this is thought of as an outdated stereotype. The city of Tel Quessith was formed by Tiefling exiles.
  • The word genasi is rarely used in Qadanna, instead each lineage is known as: Undine(Water), Ifrit(Fire), Oread(Earth), and Sylph(Air). They are not related to genie heritage, and instead come about from direct influence from the elemental planes. They tend to exhibit strong elemental manifestations in their physical form.
  • Southern Aven live in the mountains of Checha and in Najka, while their southern bretherin live primarily on the island of Tallis in the north. They have entered a fragile peace with the humans of Glayn.
  • Kenku are descended from Aven, but have been stunted and twisted by the dark magics in the lands surrounding Caer Lorian.
  • Goliaths are descended from giants, and reside primarily in the icy mountains of Aeskiir. There is a subset of Volcanic Goliaths who live in the Abraska Mountains in Korris.
  • Firbolgs are also descended from giants, but also have elven blood. They reside in the Kethrys peninsula of Eleron, along with the Boreal Elves.
  • Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Bugbears all descended from elves, and live mostly in the central badland regions of southern Eleron.
  • Kobolds are small draconic creatures, and live in caves and deep caverns within the Abraska Mountains. They torment the mountain dwarves, and often raid Korrian settlements as well.
  • Lizardfolk and Grung originated in the Kakani Wilds in central Vandrius. They live in Tlaxca and Kl'atepan, but are treated as second-class citizens.
  • Shifters also come from the Kakani Wilds. It is not known what causes these humanoids to assume a bestial form, but many avoid the settlements of man to prevent harming people in their beastial fury. (This is a lineage that can apply to any other race).
  • Lamia (Yuan-ti) are snake-like people with serpentine tails and humanoid upper halves. Thei hail from Raqis and Najka.
  • Naga are also snake-like, even more so than Lamia. While Nagas have a humanoid torso, their heads appear snake-like as well. They originate from the opposite side of the world, in the Vrasi Ascendency.
  • Though Kalashtar may look simply like humans, they are actually a symbiotic relationship between a revenant undead spirit, and a human body. The nation of Ryzik is a Kalashtar Kingdom.
  • Centaurs, Minotaurs, Satyr, Harpies, and Half-Gorgons all hail from the Empire of Korris, but can be found in smaller numbers throughout Vandrius. Each of these races are human cross-breeds.
  • The jackal-like Khenra, and Tabaxi are native to Najka.
  • Rhox and Leonin are native to Dhamba.
  • Tortles are the original inhabitants of much of the Vandrian Archipelago, in both their typical and Sea Tortle variants.
  • Tritons, Sea Elves, Cecaelia, Cnidarians, Sendrians, Karkinoi, Koalinth, Copaxi, Locathah, Selkies, Tiburons, and Sahuagin Salenti all exist!
  • Shadar-Kai are not born, but chosen in life by Iridus, The Raven Queen. These servants of death are a lineage that can come from any race.
  • Sylvari are elf-like plant creatures who descended from the Tree of Eons in the Forest of Kalenthia on Eleron, as recently as 27 years ago. They have visions of their life before they are born, known as The Dream, which then gives purpose to their lives when they emerge.
  • Myconids live in the Underdark below the surface. They communicate solely telepathically by emitting psychic spores that "infect" those around them. Some Myconids live in the Brizzlebap Marshes.
  • Moranti live in the Underdark beneath Vandrius.
  • Thri-kreen are an insectoid race resembling mantids, and are native to Kyxix.
  • Lera are moth-like humanoids living in the forests of Kyxix.
  • Cerynitis are an elf-like race with horns or antlers like a deer, elk, or moose due to influence from the Feywild. They are native to The Pallid North.
  • Loxodon and Vanara are from Rashan.
  • Fairies hail from the feywild, but can be found throughout Eleron. Faeries are tiny-sized, leading to various mechanical changes.
  • Dhampir are those with vampiric influence, centered in and around Caer Lorian.
  • Hexblood are humanoids who have been changed by powerful magic from a hag or dark witch, or those born from a witch's lineage. They are common in Bashka, and can be found in Caer Lorian.
  • Reborn can exist, but this would be a unique situation.
  • (These last three are also lineages that can be used on top of any race.)
  • Changelings exist but are extremely rare.
  • Gith exist, but are not native to this plane or world.
  • Simic Hybrids, and Vedalken do not exist. I don't even know what a Verdan is. Eberron House Marked races do not exist.
In general I'm fine with either the Legacy or Tasha's/Mordenkainen's versions. If anything doesn't have stats, ask me about it.

Classes and Subclasses

All official classes are available, with the following exceptions: Twilight and Peace Domain Clerics and College of Eloquence Bards.   Please discuss with me before multiclassing.   The following homebrew classes are also fair game: Gunslinger, Occultist, Witch, Alpha Druid, and Omega Warlock   Homebrew classes or subclasses from any of the following sources are good too:   My Stuff: Some may not be fully polished. If you like the flavor, let's hammer it out! (I have a Lunar Sorcerer concept that would directly tie in with Yona, the moon of this world.)   Anything by Ben   Anything by KibblesTasty   Anything from the Seas of Vodari   Under the Seas of Vodari   ABYSS   Dark Arts   Blazing Dawn   Sprouting Chaos   Ben's Homebrew approval list.Anything from this should be fine, but check with me please!   I am very open to other homebrew, but run it by me before getting too invested!

Ability Scores

  • We will be rolling for stats. Roll 4d6 (drop the lowest) six times, arrange as desired. Re-roll the whole lot if they don't add up to at least 70. (We'll roll in-person at Session 0. Not because I don't trust you, but because it's more fun!)
  • After assigning all your stats, you may move 1 point of your species bonuses to any other stat, but no starting stats may be higher than 18.

Spells, Equipment, and Feats

  • All officially published spells and feats, besides those from Strixhaven and Eberron are allowed. Spells and equipment from any of the above homebrew sources are probably fine.
  • The Seas of Vodari document has a lot of seafaring weapons, armor, and gear, so check that out for starting equipment.
  • Flintlock firearms are prevalent in this world, so feel free to swap any crossbow proficiency with pistol, using the Seas of Vodari stats for firearms. Ask me about rifles or other types of guns.
  • We're starting at level 1, but if you're rolling a new character or joining us in the future, add 100g per level to purchase equipment. You can also start with a non-combat uncommon magic item (not at level 1).

Backgrounds and Languages

  • Any published background is fine, and we can work to make custom ones that fit the world.
  • Languages: Each region/nation, and most races would have their own language. Some of which may be similar dialects to those of their neighbors. Vandrius would have a common trade language called Vandrian that most people there would speak.  Elvish would serve that purpose on Eleron.  Aquatic races speak Aquan.
