Caer Lorian
Located in the north of Vandrius, the lands of Caer Lorian are often quite cold and dark. A persistent fog tends to linger on most days, and there is a heaviness to the air.
For centuries, Caer Lorian was ruled by vampires. Citizens would be offered up as sacrifices for their leaders to feed, but the people did this willingly, as they believed this is the role a commoner must play in a feudal system. Their rule was heavy-handed, but their people otherwise prospered. About 35 years ago, during the reign of Queen Anya III, the newly formed magocracy of Ardwyn formed an alliance with Cadeimma and Glayn, and led an assault on Caer Lorian. The war was brutal, and prolonged, until the mage lords of Ardwyn cast a powerful ritual which allowed the vampires to be slain by mundane means. This gave the alliance an advantage, leading to the eventual overpowering of the Lorian forces, and Queen Anya was slain.
The magic that defeated the vampires, however, cast a curse over the land, causing the spirits of the slain soldiers on both sides to rise and wage war eternally on the cursed battlefield.
Caer Lorian is now ruled over by a group of leaders appointed by the rulers of the other kingdoms. They promise a new path forward for Caer Lorian, but the people now struggle with failing crops and monsters in the night.
