Korris

Korris is an ancient land, home to legendary heroes, terrible monsters, and mysterious myths. Korris is said to be the birthplace of the gods, and their worship permeates all aspects of society. Priests and clerics of the various deities are commonplace, but even a common warrior or craftsperson will typically say a prayer to their god of choice. Korris is also believed to be the origin of life on Vandrius, and is the original home of the Humans and all the other races that descend from them.   In ancient times, what is now Korris was divided into three warring city-state factions, or Poleis: Thrakis, Palavos, and Ephadia. After centuries of war, these three were united under Pereon the Great, who then went on to conquer the majority of Vandrius under the banner of the Empire of Korris. This rapid expansion proved impossible to maintain, and the empire quickly fractured, but the impact of Korrian culture remains throughout the continent to this day. This influence is most obvious in the cities that still bear the name of their Korrian founders, such as Pereonopolis, and in the presence of Korrian ruins that can be found across the land.   The destruction of the ancient island city of Ithicus, known as Jahar's Descent led to the terrible sea monsters that lurk in the waters surrounding Vandrius. Recent archaeology states that legendary Heroes of Ithicus, once thought to be mythological figures, are to be credited with preventing the release of the dark god Jahar, despite the resulting destruction of the island.   Though the empire no longer remains, the Republic of Korris still stands strong, a testament to its long and storied past. Today, the nation is inhabited by Humans, Draga, Centaurs, Minotaurs, Half-Gorgons, and Satyrs, with small populations of other races.
