Neksayoli Dynasty

by hughpierre

Structure

Mist Warlord

The leader of a mist dynasty that control some portion of their little valley and exercises supreme military, political and economic policy making decisions.

Mist Circle

An intertwined double hierarchy of military and civilian advisors who compete for the warlord's favour.
Inner Circle
The captains and sub-commanders of the army who primarily focus on defense and oversee military campaigns directly with the warlord.
Outer Circle
The lieutenants and foreign advisors who primarily drive economic development and manage the treasury.

Culture

People living under the Neksayoli Dynasty called themselves the Neskky and spoke a language called Nessy. However, there would often be little distinction between these people and their neighbours. As such, the Neskky would have similar cultural and linguistic ties with the Auluvul who spoke aulvel while under the Auluvell Dynasty over the border.

Assets

Memory Water

A clear liquid transmaterial taken from the depths of the Kiri and Mirror lakes, that is the antithesis to focus stones. Where the stones imbue properties into non-transmaterials, memory water takes non-transmaterial properties into itself.

History

Auluvell Dynasty

An old extended family who coalesced their possessions and holdings to encompass half the valley floor through many years of marriages, conflicts and interpersonal trade.

Neksayoli Dynasty

A branch of the auluvell who were able to salvage half of their territory when the old dynasty fizzled out.
Banisz Tenayuca
Banisz was the only child of a rich and noble family of the Mist. Who knocked back several rival claimants to territorial supremacy, invaded the Triple Alignment, kicked out the Tinged from Mist, beat back the Sang's counter invasion and was captured, by the then Black Ghost.

Disbandment

The former state represents a idealized age for the mist men in their northern region. Just as Neksayoli did with its predecessor: Auluvell, several successive warlords used the memory of Neksayoli to gain legitimacy.   It harkens back to a time with well suited water, sturdy defenses and peace with its neighbours.

Military

Kiri Riders

Kirin are hooved terrestrial creatures with dragon-like features. The body is fully scaled to that of a fish and often as multicolored as one. Kiri are migratory and can live in one of two herds of related females and their offspring, or bachelor herds of unrelated adult males. However, they are gregarious and may combine into larger aggregations.   The Kiri Domain is the final migratory destination for the Kiri who travel all the way from the depths of Giantsfall‌ and across the Floodlands‌ and Mist‌ to the domain's surface. Perhaps the most contested lake body of the five great lakes. The sang and Mist Men‌ go back and forth on controlling the lake which coincides with Kiri comings and goings.   Men of the Mist learned long ago how to mount and gallop silently across fields and lakes towards the enemy in large flanking motions impossible to anyone else. Rhythmic motion from the rider's hip downwards are memorized and become instinctive to prevent razor cut from the kirin scales.   This has lead to grief for many a conquering armies.

Religion

Serpentism

Great importance is attributed to the sky‌.
Because dragons only lower themselves to the ground when they're about to die and regular ascend beyond sight. It is believed that they spend most of their time interacting with clouds, stars and any known or unknown cosmic phenomenon.
Worshipers believe that the divine pervades and interpenetrates every part of the universe and extends beyond space and time. The main serpentine branch as recognized across most states is the worship of Quetzalcoatl. That is, worship of the feather dragons themselves as deities. Sky bound Gods, whose shadows they cast on the earth while overhead; whose huge feathers‌ we can touch and whose bodies, men can partake of.
Seen in this light, the creatures are symbolic of a blending between the heavens and the earth: existing within both in equal measure.

Foreign Relations

Joi Salt State

The closest of the Salt States to interact regularly with mist men. Even so, they have not always been pleasant.

Krix Salt State

There have been intermittent interaction the two with varying result. In one episode, a Krix King's daughter was stolen for a forced marriage while she was sent to advise a Auluvell warlord.

Tenayuca Campa

The Neksayoli engaged in periodic wars with the faraway Sangsalgu for control over the Tenula Peninsula the sources of memory water surrounding it. The campa's boundaries were last solidified after the Wight War with Kiri Island being a defacto abandoned area between the sang residents and the warlords.

Agriculture & Industry

Chinampa Agricultural Techniques

Chinampas are small, rectangular areas that are fenced off, layered with mud, sediment, and decaying vegetation to grow crops on these shallow bodies. Trees are also often planted in the corners to help secure the area within a system of water channels for irrigation and ease of transport.

Infrastructure

Mace Estates

Great investments have been made toward rearing their own mace turtles, but they've only managed to grow a quarter of their full size.   The turtles' mace shell is named such on account of weapon-seeking warriors killing juveniles to mount their hard, spiky shells on staffs to make ideal clubs and maces.   There are a few states who also deploy the shells of the giants to encircle their cities and break up approaching enemy forces so they must pass through in small numbers.

Are Kirin edible and if so how much would Kirin borgar cost?

Jul 14, 2021 23:31

I have in my notes that Kirin flesh taste like fish. However, the mist men consider them to be holy so it would be sacrilege to butcher them. That's not to say that outsiders wouldn't try it for the novelty.
