Mekisr Altiui
Mekisr Altiui also known as the City of a Thousand Secrets is a seedy and squalid coastal metropolis —with a history in piracy, powerful crime syndicates, and notorious crime-lords. Mekisr thrives on black-market trade and corruption, and is one of the most sordid cities in the Duryad Imperial Sultanate and perhaps all of Naghron.
Despite this, it is among the largest and most powerful cities on the Sea of Sabres.
It was an open city that welcomed all travelers and citizens alike as long as they abided by the local laws and, of course, had enough coin.
It was probably the oldest, richest and most corrupt port on the Sea of Sabres.
Characterized by the dark colors of its buildings and the dress of its citizens, who were somber, secretive and suspicious toward strangers. Politically the City of a Thousand Secrets suffered from the underhanded dealings of the Uzurhish Syndicate ’s who was founded and long headquartered here
Demographics
Mekisr Altiui has a population of ca 96,000. 30% are goblinoid, 26% are Gnolls 15% are humans, 14% are dragonborn, and 15% are other races.
Government
Being on the outscirts of the imperial sultanate, the city has no watch and few regulations. Most of the people in the city live in absolute squalor and are here out of necessity, either because they came seeking some sort of fortune and failed, or they had come to indulge in vices that have slowly crushed them. The other half of the populace are usually armored to some extent, whether it be patchwork hides, chain, or leathers. Almost everyone here is armed. Even in their poverty there seems to be a general sense of needing protection amongst the chaos. Some folks look like they're trying not to be seen, but many parade their thickened arms. It is a very unique and curiously motley group of people that call this place home.

History
Around 76 AD, a struggling shipping company Mekisr Altiui turned to smuggling and, through clever competitive tactics, grew rapidly into the largest criminal organization on the continent, the Mist. In 82 AD, the Duryad Imperial Sultanate discovered and raided the Mist's headquarters in Mekisr Altiui, scattering the organization's leadership but leaving most of the organization's power intact. The starosta at the time, Jago Dankwood, was arrested for aiding the Mist; his successor, Pandora Dankwood, has also long been involved with the Mist, and helps keep the organization informed.
