The Wobbly Goblin

The Wobbly Goblin Inn is three-story high-end inn and tavern located in the Driftwood District of Merdun that catered to adventurers, sailors, soldiers, merchants, and others arriving by sea. It is the home and place of business of Perceval Dankwood.

Purpose / Function

Dining, lodging, entertainment, companionship   A typical dish served at the Wobbly Goblin consisted of quipper and chips. Dankwood ale was a popular beverage served at the taproom.   In addition to providing a good time for her patrons, the Wobbly Goblin was also home to many seedy goings-on, both legal and illegal. At any given time, people of Merdun converged here to arrange trade deals, broker in stolen goods, exchange information of all kinds, or to plot. The dealings that took place in the tavern rarely went unnoticed by the order of the archive's agents, who frequented the bar at all hours

Design

A stone building with a slate roof, the Wobbly Goblin offered guest rooms on the three upper floors. Well-worn boards covered the floor, but the main impression was of comfort. Rich blue tapestries decorated the wood-paneled walls of the common room, which consisted of a bar and tables of stout wood. A signboard of a goblin bathing in a giant tangard that read "The Wobbly Goblin," hanging on chains from a black iron pole above the front door, announced the entry to the inn.

Denizens

The tavern is a social center of the city, and the noise within can be heard several buildings away. Most of the staff are Goblinoids. All staff members also wore magical amulets that protected them against mind-reading and mind-controlling magic as well as allowed them to send mental messages among the wearers of other amulets.

History

The Wobbly Goblin was built years before 67 AC, and it survived both the Calamity and the Duryad invasions nearly unscathed, and this was a point of pride for the staff. Following the annexation of Merdun in 25 pc, Perceval Dankwood took over the inn, renamed it and opened the inn up a shelter for refugees and outcasts. The tavern even served as a meeting place and a safe haven of sorts, in the turbulent years before Duryad claimed Merdun.   Around 23 PC, the Wobbly Goblin was a meeting place and unofficial headquarters for members of the Graycloaks.
