Op Etru

A psychology student, and the daughter of Ninu and Ures.

Mental characteristics

Education

She held a basic degree in psychology and was studying for an advanced degree when the university was attacked.

Mental Trauma

In the year 1 NZR on Guztinoma 28, an important Rilanga politician was giving an invited talk and the Ran-E-Zu seized the opportunity to assassinate him. Several Kef-Endu slipped past the campus security and blew up the main auditorium hall.   Etru was in a different building which was nevertheless shaken by the explosions. Her right cheek was cut by a shard of glass as the window next to her shattered.

Intellectual Characteristics

Etru was curious and intuitive. She liked observing people for the subtle cues which they unknowingly sent about their state of mind.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Etru was eager to learn more about what made her fellow Rul tick. As a child, she found it very difficult to connect to others, and as a young adult, she came to realize that her political views set her apart from her peers. This lead to her interest in psychology which helped her navigate the rocky landscape of social interactions.

Virtues & Personality perks

She was open-minded and tolerant of opposing views. Her demeanor was calm and peaceful, and she was unfailingly polite.

Vices & Personality flaws

Etru had always been on the shy side. Although she gained more confidence as she grew up, she still tended to swallow her beliefs and complaints to avoid disturbing the peace.

Social

Family Ties

She was very close to her mother Ures, but struggled to live up to her father Ninu's high standards.   Her relationship to her brother Urem and her sister-in-law was strained because Etru's questioning mindset clashed with their very conservative political views.   Similar points of conflict existed between Etru and her grandparents, but Vaha's gentle nature tended to soften the edge of their arguments.

Social Aptitude

Etru preferred to stay in the background as a quiet observer rather than an opinion leader. She found it difficult to say "no" to others and tended to dodge situations where this might become necessary.

Hobbies & Pets

Etru liked taking photographs of anything from landscapes and architecture to animals and people.

Author's Notes

It's interesting to see the social dynamics within the family take form. And while figuring out the timeline, I stumbled across this bit of history which triggered the move to the shelter. You'll learn more about that in Urem's and Kohip's articles.   I'd love to answer any questions you have about Etru!
