Op Urem

Mental characteristics

Education

Urem was studying for a basic degree in music when the University of Kiv Mingumisel closed down and his family decided to retreat to a shelter in the Ralenlos Mountains.

Mental Trauma

He and his future wife Kohip were in the audience when an important Rilanga politician gave an invited talk on Guztinoma 28 in the year 1 NZR. The Ran-E-Zu sent several Kef-Endu to blow up the auditorium hall and kill said politician, disregarding the students, teachers or administrative staff who were attending the talk.   Both Urem and Kohip were thrown across the room and buried under debris, which left them with several broken bones, cuts and bruises. By the time they were dug out, both were severely dehydrated and Urem was struggling to stay awake with a serious concussion. This experience further cemented his existing hatred for the Ran-E-Zu.

Personality Characteristics

Virtues & Personality perks

Urem was disciplined and studious. He also was very confident, outspoken and passionate.

Vices & Personality flaws

He had a rather traditional mindset and firmly believed in the Rilanga values, for better or worse. Combined with his impulsive, highly belligerent nature, this put him at odds with people who had a more moderate world view.

Social

Family Ties

He proposed to Kohip while they were recovering from the injuries which they suffered in the attack on the university. They got married without a traditional ceremony just a week before the Op family moved to the shelter. Their relationship is characterized by playful insults and stubborn attempts at getting one's way, and they deeply admired each other in a "worthy opponent" kind of way.   Urem was always able to bond with his father through their interest in the arts, even though Ninu was slightly disappointed in his son's lack of imagination. As for his mother, he liked her but had little respect for her naive optimism and lack of a backbone.   He rarely got along with his sister Etru, especially after discovering that she was trying to empathize with the mortal enemy.   His relationship to his grandparents was good on the surface, but rather one-sided upon closer inspection. Urem often found it easy to manipulate them.

Hobbies & Pets

He used to play the unos (a large instrument with two keyboards), but had to leave it behind when the family moved to the shelter. Instead, he came to rely on his collection of classical music recordings for entertainment.

Author's Notes

Nearly there! I just need the article for his wife, and then I'll have the foundations for all inhabitants of the shelter.   Any questions about him?
