Tinturbean
Tinturbean is the third largest continent on Magicians' End. It is west and somewhat north of Myruthea, over the Kellwrack Sea and it has a rather cooler climate than the planet's main continent.

History
Although civilisation arose first on Myruthea, Tinturbean was settled at an early age and indeed, during the ancient days when the Trinity Moon Triple Enfolding rose to prominence amongst the New Kingdoms, it was a more important continent than Myruthea, since their capital city of Goolsyn, in the centre of the continent was the greatest city in the world at the time.
Tinturbean suffered badly from the after effects of the Sundering and took longer to recover than Myruthea. Its various small states were absorbed by the Old Pale Empire between 4448 BPC and 4430 BPC and even though there was later to be a continent wide insurrection (and perhaps, arguably, more than one), they never succeeded in breaking free for as long as the Empire lasted.
After the Planar Conformation, the continent found itself on the front lines in the struggles against the Dark Domains and once again (with some noteworthy exceptions), it generally suffered worse than Myruthea.
Under the rule of the Moderators' Council, during the second half of the third millenium APC, it was the home of the Institute of Magical Analytics and the Free Union of Magical Scholars and briefly regained the centrality it had last enjoyed under the Trinity Moon Triple Enfolding. Quarowl was the home of the Council and stood at the heart of it all. But when the Council fell and the Time of Terrors began, Myruthea took the centre of the stage again. Tinturbean was relegated to its traditional supporting role in the drama of world history during the Time of Terrors but in the Age of Shadows, during the fifth millennium APC, when it became the home of the Shadowlands and the Cities Under Grace it returned to the front line of the battle against the Dark Domains. After the passing of that age, though, the main events of history have, for the most part, played out elsewhere, which is not necessarily a bad thing for the inhabitants living through more peaceful times.
In recent years the continent has become something of a stronghold for the Congress of Concerned Citizens, with its capital at Quarowl. The Congress is particularly strong in the north and outside the other big cities. Much of the south, though, is governed by the Trans-Oceanic Empire, whilst Cynran and Greystow are isolated outposts of the Alchemical Alliance.
