Bradalkut

Bradalkut is an ancient honorary city on the west coast of Punjuki, which was amongst the first settlements to be developed on the continent in the 10th millenium BPC. Although it is in fact only the size of a small town by modern standards, by virtue of its great age and importance to the early history of the continent it is classed as a city, even though Bress, a considerably larger settlement in the same area, is still thought of as a town.

History

Although it is actually a little younger than Katrapetch, Bradalkut was founded in the same era and it achieved control over the great ancient city of the interior in 9364 BPC, when the Empire of Bradalkut under the Potentate of Bradalkut unified the relatively small existing settlements of the continent to establish a single Punjuki government the opportunist leader took control of Katrapetch. The town of Bress, further north on the western coast, was founded shortly thereafter and acted briefly as the capital. However the Empire of Bradalkut proved to be a relatively short lived political power and after it collapsed in 9016 BPC, Bradalkut was eclipsed by Katrapetch in the subsequent history of the continent.   The city was conquered by the Old Pale Empire during the later stages of the Northern Punjuki Campaign in 4481 BPC.   Bradalkut has survived into contemporary times, and is now part of the Trans-Oceanic Empire but it has never grown much larger than it was in the ancient times before the Planar Conformation and it is now considered something of a backwater of interest mainly to tourists.

Climate

Bradalkut is far enough south to experience a warm temperate climate, cooler than the jungle heat that characterises the more northerly settlements of Punjuki and with some seasonality.
