Bress
The port town of Bress on the Bay of Hokall on the north west coast of Punjuki is a member of the Alchemical Alliance.
Industry & Trade
Bress makes much of its money through the shipment of goods between Punjuki and Myruthea with phryne being the main export, sold onwards from the Katrapetch Phryne Market and sent in volume via the deep water docks. Cliffport has taken some of that trade since its more recent development but the bulk of the dried leaves still pass through the hands of the merchants of Bress.
The production of the White Draught in local plantations to the north and east of the city provides a rich income for a more specialist market.
History
The town of Bress was founded, back in the age of the New Kingdoms by the Potentate of the Empire of Bradalkut shortly after the Empire completed its conquest of Punjuki and as a means of cementing his control over the new territory.
When the Empire collapsed in 9016 BPC, Bress retained its regional leadership role, declaring itself the centre of the Bress Protectorate and continuing to administer most of northern Punjuki, including the once more important city of Katrapetch. The Bress Protectorate was one of the three founding organisations which went on to unite to form the Trinity Moon Triple Enfolding.
After the Sundering, the cities and towns of Punjuki reverted to independent polities and Bress was soon overtaken in size and wealth by the older city of Katrapetch, which controlled the trade in phryne leaves.
Conquered by the Old Pale Empire during the Northern Punjuki Campaign, Bress was a peaceful and perfectly ordinary member of that Empire until its fall following the Planar Conformation.
In subsequent years, little of note has happened here. The town joined the Alchemical Alliance after the defeat of Ixthamon, the Mad Mage.
