The Orionis Cluster in Nebula Burning

What is the Orionis Cluster

The Orionis Cluster is the area of space where the humans of Old Terra (also known as Earth) in 2654 AET decided to go after it was determined that the planet was nearing the end of its life. Although many of the planets were initially not inhabitable, terraforming technology had been developed to a point that it could transform an inhabitable planet to a habitable one within a handful of years. After a ten year journey from the Milky Way Galaxy to the Orionis Cluster, humans settled into their new home and eventually it came to be separated into three main sectors: the Inner System, the Outer Range, and the Deeps Range.

Dates of Settlement

The Inner System was the first settled between 11 - 226 AFT, the Outer Range was settled between 324 - 588 AFT, and the Deeps Range was settled between 434 - 601 AFT. Each system and planet within it have developed their own unique culture since this time, crafted and built upon by all those who came after the first Terran settlers.   Another feature of the Cluster is the Deeps beyond the Deeps Range, which are an unexplored and unmapped massive sector of space that no one and no thing that has gone into it has ever come back from.

Known Region: Orionis Cluster
The new galaxy settled in by those who traveled with the New Terra Mission from Earth in 2654 AET / 1 AFT. In 3850 AFT, the galaxy is a far cry from what those first settlers experienced.
