One of the few non-terraformed planets in the system, there are very few who actually occupy the planet and all of them are centered in a single low-grav base that predates The Great Collapse. The lack of gravity makes life on the planet hard, and the base's size also complicates matters. While many mining crews are continuously cycling through alongside construction/technician crews whose job is to keep the base functioning, there is also a large criminal element constantly active. Though the criminal activity isn't organized - there isn't enough money to be made on the planet to prompt the formation of a gang as on Daant Arga or other planets - but the base is a frequent meeting point for smugglers and bounty hunters alike.

Geography

Despite its natural low gravity, Mattan's Rest once had a particularly active magma core. This core caused vast upheavals across the planet and gave it the heavily mountainous appearance it has now. It was this upheaval in the time before the arrival of the New Terra Mission that developed the ore heavy nature of the planet.
Mattan's is still so hot in some place that ore literally runs in molten rivers on the surface.

Natural Resources

While Mattan's Rest is rich with ore, mining it has been an effort filled with trial and error since the base was built in 115 AFT. Given the low levels of oxygen, miners have to be very careful to not break through the planets surface while mining for ore. While it hasn't happened often, it has happened enough that every miner has a sensor array that will alarm if they are too close to the surface.
