Alalus System (Ah-lahl-us)

The center of the galaxy and the beating heart of the inner system.

" The saying goes that you can find whatever you want in the Heart of the Core. Don't let the promises fool you, though, there isn't anything real to be found in Alalus unless you've got enough shinies.

- Clese Jenker
Nestled at the very center of the Orionis Cluster, Alalus was where humanity began their new settlement upon leaving Earth so long ago. While often portrayed as a bright beacon in the galaxy, the planets in Alalus are no different than those in any other system and it suffers from the same downsides as anywhere else in the Orionis Cluster.

Once the home of a government that held the reins of the entire Cluster before The Great Collapse, Alalus now holds only the remnants of it that still cling on to its former glory that remains. While the nickname Heart of the Core remains in place for the system, Alalus' reputation is quite obviously tarnished these days.

Geography

Alalus is eight planets clustered at just a few degrees off of the exact center of the Orionis Cluster. While it originally only had one planet inhabitable, half now have a thriving population with three others lagging behind due to environmental circumstances and one entirely uninhabitable. In the heart of the system is it's sun, Helios, named by the original settlers after one of the names for the Terran sun.

Flora & Fauna

While there once was some natural system flora and fauna on Daant Arga - originally the only inhabitable planet in the system - there is now none. The majority of it was either driven to extinction before the Collapse or died in the aftermath during the cascading system failure. There are a few surviving examples in museums and zoos on Tiforn but the majority of the original flora and fauna was lost. What remains in the Alalus System now are the descendants of the species that were brought from Earth.

Natural Resources

One of the major resources in the system is mined from C'Phini, which is the only known source of the ore known as Dynamesium. Alalus is also a major source of food for the entire Cluster as both Rasnes Betha and Lirrbebhionn having massive farming communities.

Tourism

Being the core system in the Cluster, Alalus is probably the busiest of any of them and is frequently traveled by people within the system as well as by those from other systems. Whether it is governmental business to Rasnes Betha, looking for entertainment on Tiforn, or some shady deals in either the ruins of Daant Arga or Mattan's Rest, Alalus is a busy place to be.

General History

As the oldest occupied system in the Cluster, Alalus has the longest history of any of the systems. If looking for an in-depth record of it's development, there is a timeline was focuses solely on these details.

C'Phini
Geographic Location | Dec 25, 2023

The closest planet to the sun in the system, C'Phini is unable to be occupied due not only to its lack of atmosphere but the intense heat so close to Alalus' sun. It is also the only known source of Dynamesium.

Ilaan
Geographic Location | Dec 26, 2023

Much like Daant Arga and Tiforn before it, Ilaan slowly formed into a planet that was largely occupied by cities. However, it was not broken by the Collapse and the only planet that kept the capability to machine replacement parts for HAEMs.

The original world that was landed on by those who made the journey from Earth to the Orionis Cluster, it was the only habitable planet in the system at the time. Now, it is a hive of criminal activity.

Lxile
Geographic Location | Dec 26, 2023

With it's low level gravity and need for breathing gear, Lxile became the perfect place to send people for exile and eventually became a prison planet.

Mattan's Rest
Geographic Location | Dec 26, 2023

A low-gravity, non-terraformed planet at the very edge of the system, Mattan's Rest is a mix of mining crews and criminal activity.
