ser Darris Blackmyre
ser Darris Blackmyre
The firstborn child of Lord Cason Blackmyre and Lady Teena Blackmyre-Durbach, Darris was born in 418KS. In 431KS he travelled to his mother's home Felweather Keep, where he squired under ser Nira Liddle.
Ser Darris earned his knighthood in 440KS, and was returning to Blackmyre in the company of his cousin ser Berthold Durbach, passing through The City of Bayglen when news broke of Somercrag's response to The Irogonie Aggression. Both young knights joined Sola's Vanguard, riding beside ser Sola Somercrag throughout the war.
In 441KS, when Sola's Vanguard reformed to investigate the troubles in The Hayford Duchy, ser Darris and ser Berthold rode with them once more, fighting alongside ser Sola and ser Tyon Cray through the events that unfolded there. Ser Darris was at Tyon's side when the news of ser Sola's death broke, and again when the Vanguard were ordered to disperse on the edge of the capital by The Queen's Knights.
Ser Darris was amongst the knights who gathered at Firstoath and swore themselves to Tyon's cause en route to The Tourney at Fairstrand 441KS, plotting to capture Prince Dalran Somercrag and ser Mitchar Hespeak to force the queen to recognise the truth. In the fighting that arose at the tourney, ser Darris was injured by one of the Queen's knights, losing his left leg below the knee and preventing him from joining the fighting in The Revolution of 441KS.
Ser Darris eventually recovered, with a prosthetic that allowed him to ride comfortably and eventually to fight on foot almost as well as he once had. He fought beside ser Allon Southbay to overthrow Hallkatla Darklyn for the tyranny of House Darklyn of Darklyn Point. He rode in several tourneys, where he gained the attention of Kina Falcin, the sister of Allon's squire Laina, and eventually the two married and in the summer of 449KS had a daughter, Sola Blackmyre.
In March of 454KS ser Newall Foxworth, who ser Darris had ridden with in the Vanguard during the war with Irogonie, and whose guest he had been while recovering from his injury at the tourney the following year, wrote to the members of the Vanguard to make an empassioned plea for aid in recovering his heirs who had been kidnapped by an Irogonian knight. Ser Darris was amongst those who answered the call, arriving at the siege camp around the city of Thurnon just hours ahead of a party of The Kingsguard of Tyon I Cray sent to arrest ser Newall. Ser Darris stood with the Foxworths against the Kingsguard, and by the end of the fighting four Kingsguard lay dead and the remainder in chains.
In an attempt to avert a long siege with many deaths, Lady Ophelia Foxworth-Hayford led a sortie with the members of Sola's Vanguard into the city of Thurnon to sieze a gatehouse and allow her husband's army to enter the city relatively unopposed. However, they were captured, along with ser Newall himself.
On the 20th of April 454KS, during the interrogation of Lady Ophelia by her captors, ser Darris was executed by a Black Knight. His remains were returned to his family, and interred in the swamps per his family's tradition.
