Laina is the youngest daughter of Lord Brayan Falcin. In contrast to her older sisters Bellin and Kina, Laina had little affinity for courtly life. When ser Allon Southbay passed through Calford en route to Southbay in early 442KS to take up his seat, he chose to take Laina as his squire, seeing potential in her. This has proven to be a benefit to them both, with Laina having saved his life on a number of occasions since. As a reward for her service in the first skirmish in Old Caulstid where she save Allon's life for the first time, Laina was gifted ser Frederick, a long-haired hunting Minmoth calf of the kind used in The Green. Although officially Laina holds the position of Marshal on Allon's Duchal Council, it is understood that at this early point in her career the actual work of the role is performed by Edam.
