Curtass Strong

Chancellor Curtass Strong, Royal Tourney Master (former)

Early Life
Curtass was born in 396KS, the first child of ser Billon and ser Ayara Strong-Orme, a pair of Hedge Knights in the service of King Samuel Somercrag. In 398KS he was followed by a sister, Tiffally Strong.
He grew up amongst the Royal Court in The City of Bayglen, becoming a Page of the Royal Household in his childhood, and eventually a Herald.

Tourneys
Though Curtass himself had no skill at arms, he enjoyed the pageantry and spectacle of the Tourney, and spent a great deal of time attending in service of the Royal Heirs, especially ser Sola Somercrag. His sister, meanwhile, had become an accomplished Tourney Knight in her own right.
By 434KS Curtass had become Royal Tourney Master, overseeing the Grand Tourney in Bayglen to mark Queen Malina Somercrag's ascension to the throne, at the time the largest Tourney the The Kingdom of Somercrag had ever seen.
It was in this role that he met Madam Josey Cole, a Barber-Surgeonne in the capital. They married, and in 436 had their first child, Serran Strong.
In 441KS he was sent by the Lady Laycie Sawler, an Advisor to the Royal Council, to Fairstrand to assist Lady Ophelia Foxworth-Hayford in organising a Tourney to celebrate the settlement of The lands North of The Witwells.

The Tourney at Fairstrand
The events of The Tourney at Fairstrand 441KS are described in detail elsewhere, but resulted in Curtass and his family being placed under arrest in their guest rooms at The Dyrwood Inn along with the rest of Prince Dalran and ser Mitchar's staff. There they remained until the end of the war, when they swore themselves to King Tyon I Cray when he visited to sentence the princes to exile in the opening days of the year 442KS. Following this they returned to their home at the capital, though they were not given positions in the new King's service.

Greater Stallken
In the Autumn of 443KS Tylan Hewlett, a former smuggler, was raised to Lordship over Greater Stallken, or Caulstid as it was then known. One of the arrangements made by the Royal Council to support this was the marriage of Nalia Sawler, daughter of Lady Laycie Sawler, to Lord Tylan, to lend legitimacy and experience to his command.
At Laycie's request Curtass, his wife and child, and his sister ser Tiffally were sent along with Nalia - Curtass to act as Tylan's Chancellor and Tiffally as his Marshal.
Inevitably there were tensions between these two factions, Nalia and the Strongs who came from a history of close relationship with the Crown, and Tylan and his own allies who came from less renowned history, however Lord Hewlett repeatedly proved himself to be an upstanding and law abiding Lord, and over the years of service Curtass warmed to him.
In 446KS Curtass' eldest child Serran became a Squire to ser Cemali Amberrock, a fellow Vassal of The Southbay Duchy. In 448KS and again in 452KS Jocey bore Curtass another child, Samuel and then Sola.
It is expected that once it is of a suitable size House Strong will be given Mayorship over The Burrowood, for Curtass' children to inherit.
