Campaign Recap

Storm at the Wayside Inn

On Day 24 of the campaign (6 Mirtul), Collateral Damage was in Leilon and decided to travel north to the Wayside Inn. Herb Stoner had just cast a scrying spell on Martisha Vinetalker, the owner of the inn, and he saw Martisha hiding in an upstairs room, holding a rapier and looking out a window to see a dangerous storm.

As the group got closer to the inn, they saw a wall of storms ahead of them to the north. When they got to within 100 feet of the edge of the storm, they saw a single Leilon guard running toward them. Behind the guard, within the wall of the storm, they saw three air elemental myrmidons swinging lightning-infused flails at the guard. The elementals were wearing the same plate armor that Teega Savage had proudly displayed in the tavern area of the Wayside Inn.

Collateral Damage charged ahead, trying to save the guard, but they weren't able to do so. They were able to defeat the elementals thanks to Shinzon Greenshadow's dragon breath, a sword strike from Tubby, and finally a magic missile spell from Herb.

A Warning From Shinzon's Mother

On Day 24 (6 Mirtul), while Collateral Damage was recovering from an intense fight against three air elemental myrmidons on the High Road, the adventurers saw three snow-white birds flying toward them from the south. Shinzon Greenshadow recognized them as caladrius, the kinds of birds his mother Taliah Greenshadow used in her role as a healer in their village of Treaath in the Kryptgarden Forest.

The three birds flew up to Shinzon, and one of them held a pouch in its beak. One of the others opened its mouth, and Taliah's voice came out, saying: "My son, Claugiyliamatar scryed on the meeting (of the Leilon Town Council). After hearing your name, she ordered us to watch you. If anyone attacks her, she will be ready."

A second caladrius bird opened its mouth, and Taliah's message continued: "Be careful with Raphaella. She may be aligned with your aunt Taris. We can't scry on them, something blocks it. We don't know Taris' plans."

Finally, the third bird dropped the pouch in Shinzon's hand, then Taliah's message finished: "I can't do much from here now, but this always helped me. It will be much more useful to you now. Be careful, my son."

The caladrius birds then peered into Shinzon's soul, healing him from within. They then did the same with the other members of Collateral Damage, healing them one-by-one. The three birds then flew away to the south.

Shinzon opened the pouch, finding his mother's headband, a Headband of Intellect. It was woven with simple green string in a delicate pattern, and it had a dull green glow to it while it was worn.

The group then continued traveling north into the storm, eventually discovering the truth about the Wayside Inn and the activities of the Cult of Talos there. For more details, visit the Wayside Inn page.
