Copperhaven City

The capital of the northern state of Copperhaven is a striking sight, as it is built on the side of a 300 feet tall wall surrounding the Palladium Military Zone. Its many metalworks, factories and smithies manufacturing artillery and armanents have earned it the nickname "Iron City".   Before the great War Between Order and Chaos, Copperhaven was a developing coastal town, largely dependent on fishing and agriculture, as well as the nearby copper mines that gave it its name. Then one of the floating Skylands dropped to the nearby Scythe Plains, and the first airships were developed from the Glimspar mined out of the fallen rock. This changed Copperhaven City into a bustling industrial hub, rivalled only by Czenova City.   When the war broke out, The Order made Copperhaven its base of operations, and closed off the northern Palladium Peninsula with an impenetrable wall to form the military zone. The capital city with its civilians was left behind the wall but protected by heavy cannons placed on top of the wall. There is no separate Polis Watch in the city, but the duty of patrolling the streets is taken care of by the low-ranking soldiers of the army. They simply put a golden badge on their uniform to let citizens know they are on the watch. After trial, criminals are transported to the infamous prison within the military zone.   Over the centuries, the city expanded upwards and sideways along the wall. Most of the buildings are made of red bricks to protect them from fires that might spread from the many factories and foundries. The overall architecture focuses more on practicality than aesthetics, and there aren't many parks in the city. Even the beach at the waterfront is formed of rough stone.   Like the rest of the state, the citizens of Copperhaven are mostly humans, although dwarves and highland goliaths have a strong presence within the city as well. There are four main districts in the city, with the Cathedral of Armistice, the grand temple of Aegias-Meteo, at their meeting point.

Notable Locations

Arkgate

The southernmost part of the city opens to the Scythe Plains, which is dotted by farmhouses and small villages. Most of the city's workers live in these humble abodes.
  • A1. Arch of Triumph (main gateway into the city proper that marks the start of Parade Road)
  • A2. Busker Street (many street artists and bards perform here)
  • A3. Cathedral of Armistice (temple of Aegias-Meteo at the end of Parade Road)
  • A4. Martyrs' Rest Cemetery (temple of Elethrain)

    Farcaster Waterfront

West of the city opens the tumultuous Mare Tempestas, which is unsuitable for big ships to travel. Ferries depart here for the other towns down the coast. Citizens often come to the beaches and restaurants of this district to escape the hubbub of the city.
  • F1. Aquasphere Stadium (temple of Manadis, located underwater off the coast)
  • F2. Carbuncle's Odds & Oddities (shop with antiques and magic items)

    Wallside Heights

The grand wall surrounding Palladium forms the north-eastern border of the city. Over the centuries, new buildings have been stacked against the wall and on top of each other, forming mismatched protrusions connected by narrow stairways and bridges. It is expensive to live under the protection of the wall.

  • W2. Hollistern House (abode of the Metropolite)
  • W3. Grand Cannon Hotel (10 gold/night)
