Airships

Airships are one of the greatest feats of engineering of the Steaming Age in the Eight States of Chronan. These vessels can traverse through the skies over the seas, the mountains and the wilderness, powered a magic-imbued material known as Glimspar. The airship technology is one of the main reasons that the Eight States grew so powerful.
The first airships were developed at the beginning of the Steaming Age in Copperhaven by the Arkwright family, where glimspar was mined in abundance from a fallen skyland from the Glimmering Archiourano. Rudimentary blimps were used in the War Between Order and Chaos with devastating consequences, but the technology has progressed since, resulting in vessels ranging from single-rider hovercrafts to large multifloored cruise airships.
Besides the military vessels of the Air Brigade, many airships are used as public transportation or cargo vessels, for example by the Artemes Aircourier Company. The richest and most influential individuals in the Eight States own their own private airships as well. Official Chronanese airships use the prefix SAS, "Steam-powered AirShip".
One of the several threats that airships face are Sky Pirates and dragons. Luckily, the Dragon Lords living in the floating islands are benevolent and keep their more evil and greedy brethren - as well as raiding pirates - away. Nevertheless, many daring explorers have vanished when trying to travel further beyond the borders of the Eight States.
