Goliath Subspecies

In the early Gilded Age, the mighty Giants ruled the continent of Chronan. In time and through various means, their bloodline was passed on to other sentient species, creating the brutish ogres, the recluse firbolgs, and the proud goliaths. The latter thrived alongside the giants of Chronan, and when the Fellstar calamity nearly wiped out their taller precursors, the goliaths built a new society on the ruins that were left behind.   Goliaths are taller than most other Chronanese species, averaging between 7 and 8 feet (2-2,5 meters). Their stone-hued skins have distinct stripes and patterns, like natural tattoos. The coloration of these stripes is linked to the type of giant in their bloodline. Fire giant lineage shows up red, hill giant ancestry brown, stone giant black, frost giant white, cloud giant blue, and those with the rare storm giant heritage have purple patterns.   Some goliaths remained in the mountaintop regions, while others descended into the valleys and plains below, resulting in the divergence of two distinct subspecies: the highlanders and the lowlanders. The former are most commonly found in Reignstone, while the latter are numerous in Gardenoor.
