Province of Redwater
Redwater is the northwestern territory of The Republic of Solden and Vernica and has been the staging ground for the expeditions launched against the Coalition of Hadasht. Redwater was occupied by Those of Gaulren until The Fields of Solden when it became hotly contested between the two factions. The Republic of Solden and Vernica secured the province and pushed Those of Gaulren fully into The Sanctuary following the Second Republican Civil War.
Structure
The Province of Redwater was captured by the Republic and integrated following the Second Republican Civil War. Colonists were sent into the lands and slowly took control of the lands from the remaining tribes in the area. The tribes that remained never declared war on the Republic and were given a great deal of leniency and allowed to stay on their lands. They were allowed to elect a chieftain from all of their tribes to represent their interests and would be the one to deal with in interactions between the Republic and the tribes on a macro scale. The tribes have slowly integrated fully into the Republic and most tribes turned into villages and towns following the crusades and renamed their chieftain to Governor. Governors are now elected amongst the people of Redwater and the governor then elects his councilors and advisors. The Governor is usually elected for a decade barring they receive a super majority of votes in which they'll rule for fifteen years.
The Governor of Redwater should not be confused with the senate governor elected to oversee the region to ensure they are following Republic laws and command the legions in the area. The senate governor has no control over the province other than reprimanding and reporting back to the senate if Redwater breaks Republic laws or policy. The Governor of Redwater, not the senate governor of Redwater, is responsible for crafting policy and making laws. They are responsible for policing and choosing people to control the province. The Governor of Redwater can request legion support in suppressing uprisings or policing their cities for a short period of time, but must be returned within a certain period of time. For the most part the Governor of Redwater must provide their own guards. Legionnaires should be reserved for conflicts that take place outside of settlements.
Territories
Redwater holds the Garot Forest and the section of the Wind Blown Plains south of the Wall of Quinctius. Redwater's territory is the logging forests in the southeast and farmland on the plains in the northwest. Redwater holds its territory fairly securely only occasionally getting raided by coastal attacks by Those of Gaulren. The Wall of Quinctius allows the province's security to be maintained fairly easily.
